Hi all! its probably been asked many many times in threads but I am struggling to find data on my flight. It was flight ZB249 on the 23/07/2013 from sharm to gatwick. I am in the process of claiming an 11 hr delay with Thomson at the moment and for some strange reason this flight rang a bell with me! flight status in unknown on flight stats. Im positive that the flight was late having been a knock on effect from a previous journey it made. I think it was just shy of 4 hours but I just cannot be too sure. Can anyone help please?
Many thanks in advance!0 -
Hi,
I recently had a flight from Leeds/Bradford - Las Palmas, Gran Canaria cancelled on 12/1/2015, this was due to high winds, although it didn't seem too windy.
Anyhow when we came to check in the Monarch airline representative told us that the flight had been cancelled, and at that time didn't know any further details, so we were waiting around in the airport for almost 2 hours, then to find out we were been transferred to Manchester airport by coach, and flying on the afternoon flight, meaning we were delayed for 4 and half hours.
However my question is can i claim compensation for my flight been cancelled because of (what the Monarch airlines representative said)
health and safety issues with getting the stairs connected to the plane, due to high winds.????????
Also what was the difference between Leeds/Bradford airport and Manchester airport.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated.0 -
no you cant claim due to the weather0

Hi just wondering if anyone else was delayed 8 hours on Flight ZB699 on July 10th 2009 from Mahon to Manchester. I wrote to Monarch in June 2014 since then I have submitted compensation forms as requested. I was then put on hold pending court case results. After the results were known I chased them again and for the last 12 weeks they have fobbed me off with 2 letters saying they have not had time to deal with my case but are doing their best. However they still haven't told me what caused the delay. I am running out of time and need to enter it into court but am worried because I do not know why the flight was delayed. Can anyone help?0

If they have refused to engage you or give you a reason then you have no option but to take legal action. And point this out in your later submissions.
As you say you are running out of time - most likely a reason why Monarch are not responding - procrasination and bluff is one of their only defences. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Sorry, I cannot help with the email address. I suggest you have a thorough read of Vaubans superb guide, if you haven't already.
Having done that, send them a NBA and they will start to take your claim more seriously and also because you don't have too much time left before you hit the 6 year limit.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Had a check on flight stats for my ongoing issue with this crowd, they have my flight down as cancelled rather than delayed, not that it should make a difference but found it strange0

Dear Mr *******
Re: Flight ZB685 Sharm El Sheikh to Manchester on 29th September 2012
Further to your claim for delay compensation, we are writing to advise the outcome of our investigation into your case.
Monarch Airlines aims as its first priority to provide its passengers with a safe and efficient service. We would like to reassure you that every reasonable effort is made to ensure that our flights depart on time and in the unlikely event we are unable to do so through disruption, we aim to provide a solution at the earliest opportunity.
As previously advised, in some circumstances passengers may be entitled to compensation for delay arising from such disruption under European Union laws. However, any monetary payments are subject to certain criteria being satisfied. Under these laws where the disruption is caused by an ‘extraordinary circumstance’ which the airline was reasonably unable to prevent, the carrier is not obliged to pay compensation. Extraordinary circumstances have been defined by the courts and the European Regulations themselves provide a non-exhaustive list of which circumstances can indeed be categorised as extraordinary.
Our records show that on the day of your flight, the aircraft scheduled to operate your inbound flight landed in Sharm El Sheikh on schedule after having completed the outbound sector. Prior to its departure back to the UK, the crew reported that the right hand wing deflector panel had detached at hinge line. We arranged for an engineer to be flown out to Sharm El Sheikh to rectify the fault. Upon arrival, he established that the hinge pin had sheared during flap operation and he advised that this fault is not detectable until failure. It was unfortunate that as a result of the time required to investigate and resolve this problem, your flight was subject to an unavoidable overnight delay.
Having considered the factual background of this case, we are satisfied that the disruption was caused by an extraordinary circumstance that could not have reasonably been prevented by Monarch Airlines. We are, therefore, unable to accept your claim for compensation for the reasons given.
This was a 13.5 hour delay, i think this ISN'T exceptional circumstances and should take further or am i wrong?
Just for the OP and others to use, using Bott&co, it seems like monarch have agreed to settle on this case and i have been informed, i should receive my money within 42 days! Yippee, its been a long fight!0 -
Good News! I Have finally had an email from Monarch confirming that compensation for our delayed flight from Palma to Manchester last September has been approved and a cheque is on its way. So thanks to MSE and perseverance on my part we have a positive outcome. Will be glad to finally ditch copies of tickets, emails, phone conversations and put it to bed!0
