Monarch delays & Compensations. Listed flights denied in O.P.

Hi,
Just need clarification on a delay.
My flight fron Greece to Birmingham was delayed due to the inbound flight being delayed. Basically, the flight into Greece was diverted due to a crew member being taken ill.
We were delayed over 6 hours. Do we qualify for compensation in this case?
Many thanks,
Roo
If the incoming flight really was diverted due to an in flight medical emergency, thus would be difficult to win. But I am not sure I believe Monarch, and thus may be one of those times you could ask the CAA to confirm?0 -
As is their 'review' where people have already booked flights for 2015 only to find the flights are no longer listed on their web site ....
"Update for anyone flying from Manchester to Antalya summer 2015 and ...have already booked. This is brilliant you couldn't make it up. ..... tweeted Monarch and they replied that this flight was now no longer going to run summer 2015, there is a shock. I phoned to get refund and complain that we should have been informed in writing not a tweet - finally got through and the customer services representative told me that flight was still under review and not cancelled, so I told them what the tweet from Monarch said and the initials at the end. He then transferred me to the person that tweeted the information. He told me that the information he has is not 100% but Monarch will call me tomorrow with 100% information. I am now sitting here totally confused. They both work for Monarch so !!!!!!."
Alright I know this is not a delay (but it is an early cancellation .... possibly!) but it just goes to show Monarch themselves do not know what is happening and where they are flying. Disconcerting really as they are supposedly an airline.I was so very surprised that Monarch actually let me down, said no one ever.111KAB is uncharacteristically quite wrong. Monarch have turned a corner, and customer service is now their first priority. I read it on their Facebook page, so it must be true.
Im half expecting the police to call round and arrest me for being an internet troll the amount of tweets and facebook message ive posted since the ruling, hoping they pay me just to stop annoying them :A
I know not the way to go about things but its a good stress relief0 -
I'm sure they'd argue that a crew member becomming ill (for reasons not attributable to airline food) is outside their control and no financial compentation is due.0

Flight ZB228 Gatwick to Palma 18th May 2014
Not sure what to do next, with the response from Monarch, to me the fault with the right hand main landing gear is a technical fault - is this Monarch trying to fob me off? What should I do next?
Our records show that the aircraft scheduled to operate your flight suffered a fault with the right hand main landing gear. As I’m sure you can appreciate safety is our priority, consequently the fault had to be rectified before the aircraft could be declared serviceable.
Having considered the factual background of this case in accordance with the published guidelines, we are satisfied that the disruption was caused by an extraordinary circumstance that could not have reasonably been prevented by Monarch Airlines. We are, therefore, unable to accept your claim for compensation for the reasons given.0 -

It was sent by email on the 22-09-14.
I have just come off the phone with Monarch and thier saying that the legal team are putting a response together for the complaints department to send to everyone holding complaints - which she said would be by the latest Monday but should it not arrive call back. - fingers crossed something positive will happen.0 -

They told me by today on Tuesday0 -
My solicitor has just written to Monarch regarding my claim, asking for settlement within 14 days. She has also written to the courts to ask for the stay to be lifted.0

I just spoke to the claims team (again!), I've been told that the legal team have told the claims team that a letter will be sent (by email) to all who are waiting for compensation - she reiterated that this response would be today and that it was legally the last day to do so...fingers crossed!0
