"Bosses stop flyers airing grievances"
Airline bosses are being accused of trying to silence passengers who claim cash for delayed flights.
But airlines are trying to stop people going public about their claims saying all correspondence is "strictly confidential".
Consumer group Which, says MONARCH AIRLINES has used the ploy after refusing passenger payouts.
Sunday Mirror consumer rights expert Dean Dunham said, "Airlines fail to tell people their rights or simply fob them off with complicated legal excuses.

Like most of the ways in which Monarch have handled this issue, they cover themselves in no glory with this tactic. Indeed, it risks looking pathetic - and not a little desperate - to be honest. What price their corporate reputation?0

Presumably if someone sends me a letter which is said to be strictly conidential then, providing I don't disclose personal information about someone, I can do what I like with it.

I am not lawyer, but I'm pretty certain that if I write to you I cannot unilaterally determine how you must deal with my letter. I can request that you keep it confidential, but there is no obligation on you so to do.
There are conventions around disclosure of private documents under a court process which means they cannot routinely be put into the public domain, and there is of course the "without prejudice" caveat that means such a letter cannot be put before the court as evidence (assuming the purpose of the letter is to find a constructive settlement). But I think that's about it.
Presumably this rather silly rider that has appeared in Monarch's letters is because they are discomfited by forums like this where their tactics are discussed and advice proffered. Good, says I!0 -

Is there a lawyer in the house? Please find attached a cheque in full and final settlement of your above claim. Please ensure that you file a Notice of Discontinuance with the Court and send us a copy as soon as possible.
Please note that the settlement amount and terms of settlement are strictly confidential between the parties., and haven't heard a peep from Monarch or their lawyers. And the cheque has cleared.

I found this on the Internet:

So someone who claims to be a lawyer (but I have no idea whether he's just a pretender or not) is confirming what you said.0 -

I was on the flight from Sanford to Manchester which was scheduled for the 28th August 2013 but got delayed until the 29th August. As soon as I got back I got in touch with monarch and completed the EU claim forms. By the time I had completed all the forms it was the 12th September. Its now over 7 weeks since i've heard anything from them.Just wondering if anyone else claimed and have you heard anything back? Thanks Laura0 -
