Quick question as you are aware I have now had my claim for a 23 hour delay rejected by Monarch for a second time, is it worth contacting the CAA ??

As your flight left from Greece, the CAA won't help. So either take it to court or instruct a NWNF solicitor.

Thanks just want to get this straight in my head, the flight was scheduled Manchester to Mytilene but the plane had already broken down and was stuck in Skiathos it was then repaired in Skiathos then came back to Manchester so this would now be viewed by the CAA as a Greece to Manchester flight not the other way around as it should have been !!! Hope that makes sense.

So the actual flight that you took that was delayed was from Manchester to Greece?
If so then its the CAA you want. But no point as they won't reply/do anything so get those court papers completed and sent.

Yes thats correct the flight should have departed from Manchester on Saturday 27th July, just another question I apprecaite it will cost to take them to court which I'm fine with but what happens if the ruling goes in Monarchs favour is there a risk that we could be liable for their costs ??
  • Forget writing to the Greek NEB or the airline except to send a NBA then start a legal claim. The airline has already admitted that it was damage to another aircraft within their fleet that caused your delay (which suggests they used the aircraft originally scheduled to operate your flight to plug the gap somewhere else) so you have an excellent case.

Hi Centipede, sorry to sound a bit dim but what's a NBA?

Flightstats goes back for years particularly with ZB flights - MON a little more difficult. If you post date/route and flight number someone may assist.
  • Hi. Just had a reply from Monarch following my NBA. They claim extraordinary circumstances for flight ZB684, Manchester to Sharm El Sheikh 29 June 2013.

They also state that the flight delays are fully documented, but that this documentation is not available to passengers. The thing is, the pilot gave a completely different reason for the delay than that given by Monarch.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

    Thank you.
