Knock on weather effects don't count.
Which is a bit daft if you think of it.
Consider a flight from the UK to the Caribbean. If Flight A cannot land because of severe weather at the destination that is covered. (It probably wouldn't be dispatched as they can't circle indefinitely waiting for the weather to clear)
But the return flight B cannot ever happen as there is no aircraft for it. Nor will there be until the weather moderates.
A spare aircraft couldn't land for the same reason, or a spare take off for the same reason
    A perfect Catch22

Yes. But I think the judge would take a view in this case that the airline had done everything it could. But if the situation were reversed - that a flight out to Mexico from London, say, was postponed because the incoming flight had not been able to leave Cancun. Once the weather is clear, the flight is at least 12 hours behind schedule. But - because the airline should have access to other crews and aircraft in Gatwick - it's not justified to cite poor weather in Mexico affecting the immediately preceding flight: if that makes sense?

How do I find out the reason for the delay? Think someone mentioned technical reasons but really can't remember as it was 2 1/2 hrs ago. Should I just put technical reasons and hope for the best.
As there's a template form should I not waste time sending the template letter?
Is there any special wording to put in the "circumstances for the delay" box other than that we were delayed over three hours without explanation until we actually boarded?
If it's possible to email the form (there will be three for my family), don't we need to sign them?

I've had my standard Monarch letter back, refusing compensation due to 'technical difficulties' (Flight ZB239 from Lanzarote to London Gatwick on 1st Nov 2012 - delayed by 12 hours).
I'm a little confused as to who I should complain to now. The table on the thread regarding flight delays doesn't list an option for "departure country EU not UK - Airline based in UK'
Is it the CAA or the ECC I should go to next?
    Thanks!

Court really! NEB (Madrid) will, or should, comment on your technical problem but they rely upon Monarch answering the NEB question and Monarch don't comply. So you really have the choice of walk away, pursue yourself or appoint no win/no fee firm.

Suggest you put claim into Monarch on their standard form (not necessary to use this but you may as well) - it is not for you to state the reasons for the delay (I presume 2.5 years ago not hours!) it is for them to explain. Yes you can email but post also ok if you keep proof of posting as you may need this later!

Before you write to Monarch you need to find out more information such as the year of your flight, total delay and flight number. The information re flight number can be obtained from flight-stats.

Many thanks. Yes sorry it should of course say two and a half years ago!
Sounds like it'll be a long slog to get any compensation though.
