she was given the house when pregnant with dd1 over 4 years ago , she did argue with them but they offered her a house away from the area and she refused so choice was pay or move out
It's all doom and gloom isn't it! But in a way, it's good because folk that have never worked and don't want to work will have to book their ideas up because they are no longer getting a free ride! Hurrah.
Anyway, someone throw some tomatoes or potatoes at me and get me off my soap box / high horse. LOL.0 -

You work, but there are shed loads who don't want to work, won't work and still want "free" housing and loads of benefits which they have had for God only knows how long.
Let's hope they can sort you out with something decent pet. It's not fair on people who work and have fallen on hard times and want a bit of help but can't have any with this awful blanket rule for all.
With this in mind, why should the taxpayer have to pay for benefits for people who live in council (or privately rented) houses that are larger than they need? Why should we pay £200 per week for a single person to live in a 3 bed house when they could live in a £80 one bed flat instead?
I know that there are exceptions to every rule and Tweets may be one of them (as are pensioners who are exempt from the new rules), however, the rule in itself is a good one and generally a fair one (in today's climate).
Council's benefit departments do have the discretion to pay extra housing benefit in cases of severe hardship.
Sorry for the War and Peace, my oh works in a Revenues and Benefits dept and I used to, so we both have a very good idea about what goes on.0 -
