I only just heard about this when my mum phoned but I had a read about it and doesn't look like my mum will have to pay it as she's a pensioner. It's quite ridiculous that some of those this covers are separated/divorced parents who need the room for whenever they have their child stay over.

my understanding of this "bedroom tax " is that its amid at ppl who have children simliar ages /same sex and have separate bedrooms and ppl who have 2/3 bed house when the other bedrooms are empty and the counil owns the property,

i say this as a lady in the same school as my dd has to start paying 12 rent a week as her 2 dd have bedroom eah and thats a 3 bed hose with mum and 2 dd ages 2 and 4 so because council gidelines say they can share a room the kids , then she was told to pay rent or move to smaller house so she pays the 12pound

There is one simple reason why there is not enough affordable homes. Because the government sold most them off and never built anymore..... Cheers.....

Just a quickie before I have a snooze before my night shift. Mum's partner is home, and all OK. New meds, and told to go back if it happens again.
I've got a week off work next week, thank goodness. I've been there nine days out of the last twelve so I'll be glad to see the back of the place.
Will probably lurk til Monday as on nights til then.
Hope you all have a good weekend. :D

You work, but there are shed loads who don't want to work, won't work and still want "free" housing and loads of benefits which they have had for God only knows how long.

Let's hope they can sort you out with something decent pet. It's not fair on people who work and have fallen on hard times and want a bit of help but can't have any with this awful blanket rule for all.

Thank you i dont want to get into arguments over it. I have worked since leaving school only time i have not worked was when i had DS and was on maternity leave.

I work 24 hours a week and up at 5am for first one.

Like Tweets was it said i am divorced and DS visits me for weekends now and again so needs his bed.

I know folk who wont work and also people on disability and if you see what i see with disabled fellow across road he goes out shifting snow when its dark 10-30 at night and no crutch or limp to be seen. He fitter than me.

tweets I am sorry your having such a miserable time at work and hope it works out or you find a better job ( or win lottery :D ), I do disagree with the "extra" bedroom rule, as you say there are not many 1 bed houses and even if there was you have a DS who I bet still calls your house home, the system needs an overhaul when a 16 year old can demand a house for her and her two kids and not pay any rent yet a hard working single person pays a penalty, I don't know the soloution but there must be one.
