  • Hi Brassedoff

I can assure you that all doctors who work for Atos Healthcare, whether from the UK or overseas, must possess full GMC registration and a license to practice before they perform any assessments. Without this they will not be permitted to commence employment with us, and any doctor who fails to maintain both full GMC registration and a license to practice will no longer be able to continue working for us.

Neil Bateman, a solicitor who handles ESA appeals, said on two occasions his clients had been successful because, among other reasons, the doctor assessing them had qualified in Romania and registered with the GMC but had not been licensed to practise in Britain.

Hi I have just joined this forum after spending four hours reading all the questions and the non-answers from the 'Atos Rep'. My husband of sixty years is currently undergoing hospital visits as four years ago he contracted a corneal ulcer and as a result he has limited sight., he has since had three lots of surgery in the hope this will help him regain his sight, he suffers severe depression and is prone to raging outbursts re: mental anxiety of which he see's local GP regularly) , is awaiting hospital appointment re: knee cartlidge, suffers painful headaches and bowel complaints. He was due to attend his medical last week but we had to return home as he was not well enough. Once home I telephoned Atos helpline and told them that he would not be able to make the appointment explaining what had happened.. To say I was livid is putting it mildy.. the Atos person on other end of phone was condescending and downright bloody rude.,,his words were ''So his he still going to attend the medical'' I informed him NO as he was in such a state he then said ''You do realise this is your last chance to cancel''....What!! stupid bloody man..I told him we'd only just got appointment and due to circumstances beyond his control he could not make it.. Atos man then said.. ''You must make sure you get to next one as you will not get another chance'' . Sorry for all the ranting anyway I just want to say to Atos Rep ''it's a good job you are not a claimant as your claim would be well and truly stopped for not answering the over-bearing questionaire''.. Would you like to borrow my ''Magic Robot''? he never fails to answer any question..

Sorry to hear of your experiences. Sadly it just goes to show how much ATOS (similar to the DWP) know that they are totally unaccountable. They often deny things until it is proven that they have been caught out, then it is a simple apology, possibly a few quid for 'goodwill' but that never makes up for the stress caused to their victims, and does nothing to stop them doing it over and over again. They regularly get away with what most of us would be summarily dismissed for gross misconduct for...
... apart from the odd parliamentary debate which occasionally causes them a little discomfort, they are safe in the knowledge they can carry on treating people how you have been treat without redress.

    Hi dori2o,

As I said to you before, occupational health and disability assessments are not the same and have different objectives.

No, the overall objective is the same - to make money for Atoss.

An occupational healthcare assessment is designed to see if somebody is able to do their current job,

Well, we don't need an occupational healthcare assessment to see if Atoss is up to their job. We've already got the answer to that one.

while a disability assessment looks at what people can do and if they are capable of undertaking some work.

No, Atoss are corporate axemen - Atoss gets the money from greedy, faceless company suits.

And the most vulnerable get the chop, whether they're claimants going through the DWP, or employees going through the occupational health grist.

Money through discrimination - good slogan for Atoss.

Care to comment on this latest revelation regarding atos Mr/Ms MSE Atos Rep?

"A senior doctor working for Atos Healthcare told colleagues he was “sickened” that disabled benefit claimants can now demand to have their “fitness for work” assessments recorded"

    Also

"He also described Atos as “without doubt the most incompetent, inefficient and uncaring organisation with which I have ever been involved”.

Seems you have it in hand. Good luck to your Mum.

My Mum has now receied a letter stating they have requested a GP report before a decision can be made. I called them and it appears that they no longer require an ATOS medical at home just the report. Is it usual for them to change their minds?

They have already received a completed questionnaire from her cardiologist.

I had several issues (one serious) with my WCA in April.
I made an official complaint in May was told you anticipated the investigation to take 4 weeks, and if it turned out to be longer I would be kept informed.
Well it's 5 weeks Monday and I guess I am phoning the number supplied. I have heard nothing from you.
Very disappointed I have to complain that you have not followed your own complaint process!
