atos healthcare hcps are carrying out a different role to that of a consultant. Where consultants are treating or diagnosing patients our hcps are carrying out a functional assessment against criteria set out by the government. This is different and doesn’t mean that one is overruling the other.

    Yes it does!!!!

    Hi mat39

I’m afraid that I’m not able to answer any questions about eligibility for submitting any benefit claims, but you should be able to get advice elsewhere on the forum.

Accepted, but if a consultant or a doctor who are more qualified than your HCP's states that a person is seriously ill or has a serious disablity that unables them to work after many months of tests and hospital treatment, how can your HCP's in a 30 min assessment overule this, regardless of the government criteria.

Because they get paid to make sure you fail your assessment.

What you need to know about Atos assessments.

    http://kittysjones.wordpress.com/2013/04/18/what-you-need-to-know-about-atos-assessments/

Courageous Scottish nurse Joyce Drummond, who made a heartfelt apology to Atos assessment victims, has submitted evidence to the Scottish Parliament Select Committee on Welfare Reform.

I have a correspondence with Joyce, who was the subject of this article: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/nurse-makes-heartfelt-apology-after-1340838

Joyce has submitted evidence to the Scottish Parliament Select Committee on Welfare reform, which she forwarded to me this morning. I have edited were needed, and added to the text to make it easier to read. I’ve included the contents from Joyce’s notes in full.
It is made clear throughout training and working that we are not nurses- we are disability analysts. Also, we do not carry out ‘medical assessments’ – we carry out ‘functional assessments’. We did not even need a diagnosis to carry out assessments.

    Lots of Info there.

    ATOS REP,

A very troubling comment from another thread on here see below for reference.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4557105

And in particular this quote from that thread as below.
Things that are noted are :-
Did you complete the form yourself
    Is the handwriting legible
    Are the contents coherent.

These observations are already used in assessing your hand function, your cognitive state and concentration.

Is this the policy of ATOS to take the above quoted practices into consideration as stated in that thread?

    Thank you
    John
  • That's not all this devious lot do, they check all sorts of things well before the assessment begins, but I'm sure the rep will give you a very honest answer as always :shocked::shocked:

You see I have never understood the problem with that. If you can't do things then they won't see you doing them, no matter how much they may check on you. So what does it matter?
