Ask Atos Healthcare disability assessment questions

I agree - there is little point in being abusive to individuals online. It is better to try to take complaints through proper channels such as your MP, GMC and the NMC. It is understandable that people do get extremely stressed and angry when they are repeatedly lied to/about , there seems to be little support available and when people repeatedly tell untruths about your health.
Human nature to get angry when you have some quack telling lies about you. Especially when it's a quack you'd rather not have to see.I also believe that some ATOS employees are professional, I have heard several stories of this.
Professional and Atoss don't belong in the same sentence.Sadly I can honestly say that I have not come across one apart from the Independent Tier of their complaints process.
Nope, I've never encountered one.I have stated many lies told by ATOS - could you please tell me how I have twisted and lied on this thread or in my blog as I believe that everything I have said is well evidenced.
Bit rich of Fridge3 to accuse others of twisting and lying when that's all he does himself.0 -
You seem to be muddying the waters rather than clarifying them. I asked for the complaints procedure that ATOS follow as I did not know the next stages and was not being told.
ATOS said that I could not have them, you seemed to agree that this was the case.
I did not ask for 'internal process guidance'.
I have the original refusal in writing if you would like me to put in online.
Thanks,
Dee

I would like to see that - but remember to take out any personal details/reference numbers/addresses, etc.
However, if it's already been posted on another site, then let me know where I can find it.0 -

To clarify this point, it is our customer services team who register complaints and they are very happy to investigate individual circumstances if people contact us directly. On this forum I can explain what the process is. If people report that hasn’t been the case in their particular circumstance they are welcome to contact us directly. Sorry if I have not been able to provide the information you were seeking.
I'm well aware C.S. would have to be contacted. It's the fact you are suggesting this is the best course of action for customers who feel the need to complain about a HCP or WCA that is what I challenge. At every corner you seem to be provoding a PR response to customers here... that often is not in their best interest... and as I read on yet another example of this.Hi Olive Oyl
If you can contact us using the details in our profile we can look into your specific circumstances and discuss them with you directly.
This is another attempt to get a difficult matter away from public view. Spot the theme MSE admin? The user (customer) is not wanting investigation of their particular circumstances they are asking for general comment (to commonly reported problems!) like I have been in my questions. I do not want a private study of what went wrong in my case as I'm happy with the outcomes... I want to know how the things went wrong (which do not rely on individual circumstances/case specifics) and what one should do if the same is repeated. But I've rather given up on asking the question now for obvious reasons... you don't even seem prepared to admit that any procedure may not be followed or a customer maltreated. We're all barking mad making up terrible stories of events that never occurred."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

This details the later response after I was told by the ATOS person that they did not have an independent tier and later that they at least had not heard of it.

All information relating to Atoss Healthcare, eh? Interesting...0 -
I hope the Atos person can answer a query for me.
Whenever I have needed a medical in the past, the Doctor has always called at my house to carry out a medical.
I have applied for Constant Attendance Allowance and have been sent an ATOS letter asking me to attend a medical centre for a medical.
I spoke with the Veterans Agency who told me that if needed a home medical can be arranged by speaking with ATOS. I rang up and was told that home medicals are no longer carried out which seems at odds with what the Veterans Agency are saying.
Can you help clarify what the position is regarding home medicals please.

In the event that this particular MSE sponsored Atos Rep avoids answering your question like they avoid answering so many this is what is on Atos's website with regard to home vists:-
"What is the process and requirements for home visits?
If you feel that you are unable to travel to an assessment centre for your ESA assessment and would like the assessment to be carried out in your home, please call our Contact Centre on 0800 2888 777. They will ask you to provide information from your treating medical professional to explain why you are unable to travel to an assessment centre. Atos Healthcare cannot help you with any charges from your medical professional for providing a letter.
This information will be considered by a healthcare professional who will decide whether a home visit is necessary. Please be aware that home visits are usually only carried out when you are unable to leave your home for any reason. If it is clear that you are able to attend GP/hospital appointments, you will normally be expected to attend an assessment centre for your ESA appointment.
Please be aware that if we do not receive the information prior to the appointment that has been arranged for you, or a home visit is not authorised, you will be expected to attend the appointment. If you do not attend your ESA appointment, you will be sent a form (BF223) asking why you did not attend to forward in an addressed envelope to the Jobcentre office dealing with your claim. If they accept ‘good cause’ for not attending the appointment, they may refer your case back to Atos Healthcare to arrange a further appointment.
Disability Living Allowance assessments and other benefits are conducted where possible in an assessment centre. However, if you need a home visit then please let us know by using the telephone number on your appointment letter."
Unfortunately it's a lottery when you ring up Atos whether you get to speak to someone who knows what they're are talking about or just making it up. IMHO the latter is more the case!!0 -
Hi little monkey
The answer is no for almost all assessment rooms. A very small number of assessment rooms around the country are used for training as well as assessments. These have CCTV cameras installed which are used when the trainees perform simulated assessments, so the trainer and trainee can later review the case and discuss learning points. These cameras would never be active outside the training setting though, and not during any actual assessments.
Care to put a figure on that rather sweeping statement???0 -

Hi Andrew2809
Thanks for your question. This thread is for questions about the Work Capability Assessment process, but if you contact is via the details in our profile we will be able to confirm the situation with regards Constant Attendance Allowance. We should be able to look at the details of your specific situation and see why there is a difference in the advice you’ve received from us and the Veterans Agency.“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Atos Healthcare. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
As you say "The remit of the thread is questions about the Work Capability Assessment process" (not that you've answered any of them properly) so given that Atos "doctors" and "HCP" are involved in the WCA process how many "doctors" and "HCPs" have been reported to the GMC or Regulatory Bodies for carrying out sub-standard WCAs?0
