Any advice please??
On Sunday I walked into Jessops and purchased a Panasonic Lumix camera. After saving really hard for a year and a half, I had managed to save enough for my dream camera. Having researched extensively and waited for the sales, I made the decision to order online from Jessops and collect in-store, as they matched the cheapest price online and I thought it would be good to buy from a specialist camera shop.
I thought the collection from Jessops went smoothly (although I was a little distracted due to running slightly late for an appointment later on). It wasn't until I got home that I realised rather than charge me their 'exclusive order online' price, they had charged me their in-store price, which is significantly higher. I have emails that prove I ordered online at the online price, so have been trying to ring them to sort it out but only got through to a very unhelpful customer services person who told me to go back to the store.
Will they still honour the online price that I have proof that I ordered it at? And the 3-year care plan that I also purchased (paperwork says it's provided by warranty specialist Domestic & General) - will that still be valid?
Any thoughts....?
You should be able to get it refunded as you were overcharged - not refunding products shouldn't affect that. If they say no the only thing I can think of is to take it up with your bank (though I guess from their perspective, you were shown the price in-store and you agreed to pay it, so they may not be interested). I wouldn't imagine you have much legal recourse against them.
The warranty should be fine though.if i had a gift card i would walk in store select item leave card on counter and walk off

Except in the eyes of the law, that is no different whatsoever to you walking in and taking the goods without a gift card. Which means depending on the staff there you'll either be physically stopped and held while the police are called, or the police will be called and shown CCTV footage of you...0 -
Hi
Can anyone advise please?
Went to a Jessops store on New Year's Eve and paid to get some old cine films transferred to DVD. They said it would take about 10 days and not heard anything yet. I'll try to go to the store tomorrow and hope it's open but will they still be able to carry out the job and if not would I at least get the cine films back as they are very precious to the family.
many thanks, Gary0 -

If the Lumix you bought is a G series you should be able to register for a free 2nd & 3rd year guarantee on the Panasonic website.0 -
Oh great! My OH got Jessops gift cards for christmas :-(0

lojot, I'd love to know just how much you paid for that 3 year care plan! Panasonic often offer free extended warranties with their electrical goods. I bought a 42 inch plasma Panasonic tv back in 2006 which came with a free 5 year warranty. All I had to do was send off a warranty registration card and they sent through a certificate. I urge anyone to check warranties fully on the goods they are buying before they take the plunge and pay for what can be a highly inflated price for an extended warranty package. I say inflated because if you trawl the web, you'll find white goods insurers online who can supply a similar or better product for far less money.
Anyway, back to topic, I would imagine that anyone who had the forethought to pay for recent purchases from Jessops costing over £100 on a credit card that they have yet to receive or know they will now not receive, will be able to recover any losses from their credit card company. I certainly pay for all major white goods and other products costing over £100 to cover eventualities such as this. Last November, I purchased an airline ticket for a domestic carrier in South Africa that went bust days before I was due to take the flight. I got my money back because I had paid by credit card. Those who did not weren't so lucky.0 -
surely if gifts cards are purchased and at the time of purchase the company or its financial staff new it was to go into administration, which I believe they must have done, as accounts must have shown profitability, then I believe this is fraud as they are selling something that cannot be supplied at best it is theft. so what laws protect this type of trading0

Hi all
Does anyone know if jessops are accepting exchanges on faulty goods? My husband bought me an SLR for Christmas along with a second battery. The battery is faulty and I'm not looking for a refund just a straight swap
Any help is much appreciated!
Ta,

Go in and ask, I would be surprised if a battery isn't swapped for you quietly by a friendly member of staff.0
