What breed of cat/colouring or markings does this little lady have

I think she has at least a quarter if not half Bengal! Pretty girl!
I wish you luck in not finding her family as I think you are smitten with her!0 -
We had a male cat who looked very similar to her.
He was pale cream with faint undermarkings when we first had him but his browny markings became more pronounced as he grew, his tail was black and grey and looked as though he'd stolen it!
He came from a tabby/white mum moggy (dad was unknown) and the other cat in the litter was a brown tabby.
She's beautiful and I would also be wary of anyone falsly claiming she was their cat.
I hope it turns out OK for you and the cat.0 -
She looks just like my cat, which is a blue eyed snow bengal.0
-
she what i would call a snow leapard bengal.
that one by its markings and size is around 1-2 and 1/2 years old and not fully mature yet as in she hasnt fully displayed her markings.
she looks to have some sort of other breed in her, as she is not as slender and has a more over toned muscular frame and shorter legs than a bengal full breed. she's an expensive cat although a cross she is almost a full bengal breed so worth in the region of about £180-£240 as a queen and no papers.
contact your local bengal breeders, and send them some pictures to see if they recognise her, if someone recognises her they will be able to contact the person who bought the cat from them and ask them to get intouch.
but bengal lovers will travel the country for the right cat or shorter waiting list so is only a needle in a haystack a local breeder may be able help.
TBH, a bengal is very effectionate cat and dont stray far from home even when they escape so why this one is roaming alone is getting thinking someone didnt want her.0 -
Thank you for the information atrixblue it's been very helpful and she is really affectionate... hoping a little of that may rub off on my two cats. I'll start looking up local breeders and see if we can find her family.
She's still wearing the collar I put on her and it still has the paper in so I'm guessing that she hasn't been home. We've started letting her in the house to warm up when she vistits now as it's getting cold and when she came last night and this morning she was soaking. Her visits are becoming more and more frequent.
I have grown rather attached to her but hope that if she does have a family I can find them. Why anyone would want to get rid of her I have no idea. I can't understamd why she isn't chipped though, we have 2 DSH cats and I chipped them as soon as they were big enough for fear of losing them. Surely if you were going to pay a small fortune for a cat you would chip them.0 -
i have my ragdolls and DSH tabby's chipped, its part of the process really when you take your specialist breed of cat to a vet (the vet reccomends just incase its pinched) and Domestic cats just incase they go astray.
its seems this little girl has chosen you, i agree that you should take her in over the next few days to give her some warmth and a place to shelter, its going to go really cold and snowy (if you can believe what the weather man says) right the way up untill the weakend, this may prompt the real owner to go looking if she isnt seen over the next few days to come out and look for her.
set her up in a quiet room with some litter, blanket food and water and check on her every couple of hours, dont let her roam around the house or mingle with your cats untill you know fully she free from any FIV FELV (by the looks she doesnt have FIV as she would be thin verry sore no teath and scabs all over her body and sickly quite often).
if by the end of your efforts to find the owner dont meterialise a claim to her, then why not keep her as your own? if she gets along with your other cats, and she is intent on having you as a pet herself then its a match, will keep her from being pushed pillar to post, and also keep her tempermant as the more a cat is dished around the more it gets frustrated and unhappy and loses its will to trust anyone.0 -
OP
I tend to agree with atrixblue about keeping her if that's what you want.
From what you've said you've done quite a lot already to try to find her owner - posters, paper collars, checking for microchip etc - and it sounds like she's been around for some time.
I too can't understand how someone can have a cat and not have it micro-chipped, all mine have been done.
They were all just moggies but if they got lost (or worse) and someone took them to a vet I'd want to know.
Do let us know what happens on this one.0 -
just a recheck on this to see if youve had any thoughts or progress and how it went with keeping her indoors last night?0
-
If advertising her, do please mention the colours - not everyone knows exactly what type of cat they have but someone looking for a beige and brown cat might be her owners
If you look on Gumtree there are sometimes people saying they've lost their tabby but the photo is actually a tabby/white or one I saw was a tortoiseshell
You don't actually have to say she is a she - that could be a detail to held back to sort out the real owner, 50% chance, and see if she has a spay scar as the owner will know if she has been spayed
PS she may not be local to you so please advertise nationallyYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Hi Atrixblue, I've sent a couple of emails with picture but no reply yet. We brought her in last nigh but she kept hissing and swatting at our older cat Salem, I don't think it helped he kept trying to sniff her bum, the kitten just stayed away.
My OH went to bed with our two cats and I slept in the front room with Kitty (we've gave her a name, sounds better than 'the stray'). She started clawing to be out around 2 this morning so I let her out but stayed downstairs so I could hear her when she returned.
She came back between 6:15 and 6:40 this morning but I missed her as I was in the shower but she came back around 6:45 so I brought her back in until I had to go to work at 8:10.
We're going to bring her in again tonight and again I'll sleep downstairs with her. We have a back room which is basically used as an utility. At the moment it has boxes which need to go in the attic when it's boarded out so I was thinking of emptying it (or tidying it up) and getting a cat flap installed so she could come and go as she pleased. At least then she'd have regular shelter/food/water etc. I just need to run the idea past my OH and the landlord.0
