Opened the curtains, shouldn't have done that, too much dust behind them, will have to keep them closed again!
Don't we all have to keep them closed for insulation to save money over winter
If you get to the point where you must clean then it is best to borrow a child and persuade them it is a fun game for them. I once managed to get my little sister sorting out the odd socks for hours doing the matching game ( mum never threw them out so ever so often we had a bin bag full to try and sort!)2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Certain corners of our living room got their annual clean yesterday - so that we could put the Christmas tree in place
I have also started clearing away some of the cr*p from the bookshelves, so that we have sufficient clear space for the cr*p that we'll be given this year.

Have just spent a week helping a friend clean everything in her house ready for packing into a container before shipping to NZ, then cleaning the empty house . I'm now suffering from deep shock and will be taking to my bed until the clocks go forward...0

Why can't you wash up during Christmas?
Because the Fairy is on top of the tree.
Saw this today and thought what a suitable joke it was for this thread. One to use, I think to get out of the clearing up over Christmas.0 -
I think I'll go on holiday for next Christmas. It's 5 days away still and we've spent 2 days cleaning the lounge and dining room.
Including washing, ironing and re-hemming the curtains. Yes the floor is clear, the decs are up and you don't have to push anything out of the way to sit down but by golly I'm that tired... I could have spent that time munching choccie bikkies and watching a film!
Its not as if we have anyone invited to even see the work we've done!

Low subtle lighting is very important at this dark time of year.
Then nothing is seen. By me I mean, I don't care what others think, they come to see me, not how pristine my house is, and that would be a laugh!
The only thing I really do have to confess, is cleaning the brass light fittings of paw marks. They are so obvious in a low light.... And get the soft broom at the cobwebs.
After that it's "what would you like to drink?, help yourself to anything you like on the table. Happy Christmas, great weather/awful weather, how are you?
Ok, anyway, have another mince pie.
Heavens above, does anyone look and inspect!0 -

My whole house needs a thorough going over, got 2 sets of visitors around tomorrow (including MIL, who lets it be known if she thinks something needs doing by going off and doing it herself!) Somehow need to fit in the Christmas food shop, making mince pies and entertaining 2 grumpy children.
I'm seriously considering burning the house down.0 -

my ex-MIL would open every single cupboard door to have a look inside.
I had rammed the airing cupboard full of the clean, unfolded towels and sheets to get rid of the pile [STRIKE]that had been sitting there for about a month or so [/STRIKE] and it cheerfully unwound itself as the door opened and the whole shooting match landed on her :rotfl:
She never did that again.0
