I got a 'flyer' through my door yesterday from a cleaning company, I was so tempted
I just got back from my holiday and there was a fresh film of dust over virtually the whole house, with no movement it had a chance to settle
Now I am faced with not only the usual amount about the place but this extra layer as well0 -
Sorry my slob friends but i fell of the wagon, just hoovered upstairs, changed the bedding on the spare bed and cleaned the bathroom, as we have family staying
but in my defence I have hidden a pile of ironing in the airing cuboard:cool:today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.

I think I've found some soul mates on this thread.
I have tried the whole flylady thing but there are just not enough hours in the day as it is so I manage it for one day and give up.
I used to have quite a clean house when I lived alone, it was easy, spend any free time at home either reading a good book or online so the house never has a chance to get messy. Since I've lived with OH mess just appears and multiplies.
I'd long suspected he was the messy one and he had an op last week so he was off for the week and I was home to look after him, I cleaned the house completely when he was in bed, sat down with a more than well deserved cuppa, only for him to come downstairs for an hour. By the time he went back up to bed it looked like a bomb had hit the place.
We always argue over who does the most housework and until then I never realised how much cleaning he does, but I also never realised how much mess he makes. I don't know how it's possible for one person to be that messy.0 -
I emptied a kitchen cupboard today. I had open corn flour from 2008 and some soggy stock cubes from 2007. Half the contents are still on the work surface. It will give me something to do when it rains tomorrow.0

Does anyone on this lovely thread have a "cemetery" cupboard?
It's that place where all stuff is BURIED for Years just like a huge version of the old fruit bowl.
Yep, mines in the kitchen, and it's easy to fling things in there. Yippee, out of sight, instead of in the shredder etc!
God I hate it when I know there is something in there that I have to exhume! Takes me days to steel myself for what I might find. Then I find the "thing" I'm looking for, and instead of culling the mess, just lash it all back again, minus the said item. To be followed soon enough by the next burial.
I cannot be alone in this surely?0 -

I emptied the cupboard where the carrier bags go to die. I now have a a WHOLE cupboard. Mind you now with the 5p charge coming in perhaps I should put them back....0 -
I have discovered a super lazy way to minimise washing up AND keep the kids happy and it costs pennies!
Supermarkets often have paper party plates on offer when they get different stock in and sell the old ones off at 30p (ish) per pack!
Our light sandwich type lunches sometimes get served on Ben 10 or Barbie plates which can then be tossed into the binThe kids think I am awesome
Not very environmentally friendly, but then neither is my house0 -

And I hope you use disposable foil trays for cooking in the oven too. And use plastic cutlery, and disposable picnic glasses and paper cups too.
Money saved on hot water for the wash up, and slob lady brownie points thrown in, what's not to like here!0 -

Oh yes! Mine is my cupboard under the stairs. The door is at the end (under the highest stair) instead of the more usual on the side, so the cupboard is mahoosive and goes right back under the stairs to the lowest step. Consequently I can only usually get to the first 3 foot or so inside the door where my vacuum cleaner should live, but doesn't cos there's no room. The rest of the cupboard is filled with 'out of sight out of mind' stuff. About once a year (or 2
) I empty it completely - and then put most of it back. :rotfl:
