  • I managed to stir myself off the sofa long enough to do some cleaning :( i have worked up quite a sweat hoovering and washing the floors. I have to be honest and say i can't see the difference in the floor post cleaning, which leads me to think that either a) the floors were not as dirty as i thought or b) i didn't put much effort into the cleaning. I am inclined to go with option a.

But the house is gleaming, there is not a thing left undusted, unpolished, unwashed or unhoovered - except me! And that's next. i feel like a traitor to the sloblady ethos :(

I've just clicked on the weekly flylady thread by mistake (stupid tablet screen jumping around) - are they serious? I think I might have to spend the weekend horizontal to get over the shock. An hour of house work a day?

I have surpassed my self this week. I got back from holiday on Tuesday, I unpacked the case into 2 piles clean and dirty, both piles are still on the floor. I painted some furniture in Wednesday the paper I used to protect the floor is still there.

The Flylady thread is so exhausting to read, there is no time to do anything afterwards.....
I am not exactly a sloblady but I'm more inclined towards that than the whole Fly lady thing.

I do spend one eve chopping and peeling veg into containers ready to use- I guess kind of Flylady. But I'm doing so because I want to be able to just chuck the veg into dishes - I guess kind of Sloblady.

I do wash up when I get a pile and not as I go along because [STRIKE]I'm lazy[/STRIKE] being efficient with water ;-)

I still need to put away the clothes I washed last week that didn't wear this week. Some things have been worn again and need re-washing. Keep intending to put things straight away- Fly lady style but fail miserably so have them easily accessible - Slob lady style.

Only do one wash a week- as yet no colours have run....

I do have a holder for my toilet roll but if I didn't it would get soggy in the shower.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I quite like the 'keep the sink shiny' idea on Fly Lady and I did try it for a few days and it did make me smile but only because everything else around it was utter chaos. On the fridge I put the phrase in magnetic letters to remind everybody ....well it says "Kep th sinc shini" cos I couldn't find all the letters - long since gone as our DDs are way beyond magnetic letters now and these were from a handful I found behind the freezer when we pulled it out to replace it :)

    Ohhh!! This is amazing!!! :D
Spent the past few hours reading the whole thing alternating between fits of laughter and nodding my head knowingly ;)
I tried the Flylady thing, but found I just didn't have enough time to keep up with it even though I only work 1 day a week!! It took far too much precious time away from drinking tea and looking at pictures of cats on the internet :p
I always find I get holes in the big toe bit of my socks so what's the obvious solution? Darn them? Go shopping for new socks? Don't be silly!! Just swap them over so the hole is over the little toe instead and you get twice as much wear out of them :rotfl:
Oh, and I've lived in this house for nearly 3 years, and the list of things that have never been cleaned 'properly' include the kitchen floor, the bathroom floor, the oven, the tiles that are near the ceiling in the bathroom, the skirting boards, the tops of the kitchen cupboards, under the sofa .......
My brain hurts just thinking about how long it would take to clean all that, so it must be time for another brew and some cake :j

To be fair, that IS what the internet was invented for. I do it, and I don't even like cats :D. If you fancy a break from cats try THIS :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I blame my Mother, if only she'd taught me these things need cleaning...
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
