Hmm... there's something missing from your list... do the letters "EL" mean anything to you?:rotfl::rotfl:

Loving reading everyone's ideas for their projects, it's getting me thinking about what I can do so thanks everyone. It's been a while since I had time to do much other than work and keep my head above water so I'm a bit rusty... to put it mildly..

Don't you mean it encourages others to buy lots of other craft items, lovingly look at them but never get round to doing them - or is that just me:D

Evening everyone. Im after some advice. Ive been looking at sewing machines to see how much i need to budget for and was wondering what make and models you would recommend. ... Ive been looking at singers as my nana suggested this brand aby you would recomend x many thanks x

Further to what I wrote a couple of days ago. My machines were probably the top of the range and the dearest items in my house for many years! However they don't owe me a penny having made everything from curtains, sheets, duvet covers to winter coats, jackets, blouses, trousers etc etc....not to mention C&G embroidery & A Level Art & Design!!. Only last year I made over 200 doggy duvets (for charity.)

So, I think you need to think exactly how much you intend to use your machine, and for what?
    Would you use embroidery stitches?
Will you sew buttonholes? (the one thing my machines don't do well)
Will you sew tubular items like setting in sleeves? If so choose one with a free arm rather than a flat bed.
Do you have excellent eyesight?!! If not get a needle threader !(that can be an add-on)

You used to be able to get free lessons with certain machines but I suspect most of the independent little shops have gone which provided these. As I said before do try some machines out beforehand. Maybe ask friends if they will show you theirs- and let you have a try

Will be interested to hear what and when you have bought a machine. I would be lost without mine and sew as much as possible by machine rather than by hand!
    Enjoy

    I love that

Oops, I'm guilty ! Enough material to clothe the Humber Bridge and enough card /card making stuff to reach the next century! That's not mentioning wool, embroidery thread and the "they'll come in handy (for something) items" Trouble is if you are at all crafty and thrifty bits and pieces are utterly irresistable ..or is it just me??
