Finished cross stitching another letter for my sisters scrapbook (I'm going to cross stitch her name and put it on the front) Luckily her name is only 3 letters long. Two done, one to go, though I have just noticed that I have sewn the bottom two rows of one line of the 'A' the opposite way to the rest of the letter. Damnit! May undo and do that part again.
Also I decided I wanted the letters in a bright colour not the black that came with them, but it seems I have bought thread that is double in thickness.
I'm new to cross stitching can you tell :rotfl:13 projects in 2013 0/130 -
most cross stitch thread comes in skiens that are 6 threads thick. depending on what count adia or evenweave youre using you pull the threads into 2 or 3 strands at a time to stitch with. HTHSPC~12 ot 124

was gonna say that also. was amazed once I realised you were meant to divide the threads. makes the skeins last sooo much longer, also check out the loop method too its much easier to start with.
woot just realised after wondering for months what HTH means.. Is it Hope that helps or similar0 -

Please may I join? Hopefully this will focus my creative (but rarely touched side). I have knitting needles and a sewing machine...and I could be dangerous!
If I am allowed to join, I will start my list with
1. Knitted scarf
2. Knitted baby blanket
3. Sew a baby / toddler shirt - need to find or make a pattern (which this thread has just reminded me to do.)
4. Dog coat
5. Something in the clothes department for me!
will think of more to add to the list and will look for inspiration from the other posters.

however I did once buy stuff that WASN'T or DIDN'T split into strands - no idea how you were supposed to stitch with it think it was a cheapy brand but there was no way it was splitting.
and never ever try and remove 2 strands of a skein at the same time you will end up in knot central.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi newbies, of course you are welcome. Soulie isn't able to get online at the moment but as soon as she is back I am sure she will add you to the list.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

Thank you everyone for the advice on the cross stitching(posting from my phone so its hard to multiquote). It does help very much. The thread did sometimes unravel when i was threading the needle.13 projects in 2013 0/130
