A project is a project - I don't think Soulie set any rules for what can and can't be included :D

Nope, no set rules, like you say a project is a project or it would be like saying cards didn't count either 'cause 'all' you do is stick stuff on a card, and as a card maker I know how much effort and time goes in to one card!

  • Thank you flowers that's really kind of you to say. Yes I did the quilting on my machine but next time I would use a smaller stitch as it doesn't look quite right if you look close up, I keep looking at quilting sewing machines on the internet LOL. My best friend has just had a baby girl so I might do a cot quilt for her before moving onto a single sized one for my daughter.

I didn't look that closely and nor should anyone else :D
Cot quilts are lovely - have you seen the panels you can buy? They only need a border and backing and then they are ready to quilt. Here are links to a couple of examples - there are loads once you start to look :D

Sounds like a new sewing machine will have to be on your Christmas list this year. If you can I recommend visiting a sewing machine shop and trying different ones. You really can't tell from a website what will suit you best. Some craft shows have sewing machine stands as well - the big one at Alexandra Palace in the autumn will if you could get there. A good sewing machine is an investment and should last 20 years of regular use which makes the cost seem less daunting.

I absolutely second that. I have 2 machines (- reason- I was going to trade in 1st to buy 2nd but the shop wasn't that interested, it was a better deal to keep it.) Result: the old one is still going strong and is nearly 40 y.o. Last year it made about 175 doggy duvets & covers amongst other things!! The newer one is fancier and doesn't like sewing layers of denim etc but does lovely embroidery. I wouldn't part with either as they have more than paid for themselves over the years of clothes, bedding, soft furnishings, presents etc.

Still love your quilt and your machine quilting. Very well done.

I've updated my list to include decorating the mdf figure and I've actually started it. What's even more amazing is that I've finished my button pictures :j- they're only very simple, cut some card to fit in some Ikea frames and made a pattern with some decorated heart shaped wooden buttons - but I'm pleased with them. Unfortunately I can't post photos because I haven't investigated the places you have to post them from yet.
    1. Make cushion or toy from grandson's baby clothes
    2. Ditto from grandaughter's outgrown clothes
    3. Make candles in unusual but lovely holders for Christmas pressies
    4. Crochet a flower brooch for me (assuming I learn to crochet)
    5. Sew a very glamorous coat for daughter's chihuahua
    6. Complete cross stitch started in 2008 - started
    7. Make cushion cover for sister's Christmas present (dog motif or other dog related ideas)
    8. Customise window blinds
    9. Button picture/collage -COMPLETED!!!
    10. Initial made from buttons
    11. Decorate mdf figure for wedding vow renewal pressie - started
Flowerofscotland - a bit undecided about the decoration at the mo. It's a figure of two birds with their wings spread out and a small heart between them (where their beaks are) and a small flower between where their tummies are. Sounds awful I know but it does look better than that honest lol. At the moment I'm doing the outside edges in a silver paint and when it dries I'll see how it looks. Was thinking of sort of 'feathering' the paint onto the front at the edges with a fairly dry brush but not sure yet. Going to crystal the heart and I'd like to incorporate their names and the date somewhere. As you'll have gathered I'm still a bit hazy on the detail!
Ailsb - like the pictures - the owl is lovely.

Maria - the quilt is fab.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Wow your makes are so inspiring, might looking doing a button art collage to add to my list, today I've started to cover large cardboard letter for DGD2s new bedroom at ours. Was initially just doing her initial but do you think that might just look daft and I should carry on getting the letters for her full name?
