When i first passed my test at 17, i bought a G Reg Peugeot 205 Roland Garros for £100...my insurance was £3200!!!!!!
I had to sell me first car after a month
Its an utter joke, the few muppets out there affect the rest of us..
luckily ive proved to people that not all young drivers are doughnuts..
im now 22 and have never had an accident *touch wood*.
My insurance is slowly coming down but its still a bit too high. my boyfriend is an amazing driver and yet as he is a young male his insurance is still ridiculous.
dont seem fair sometimes but hey...'Thats life', we all have to go through the high insurance prices at the moment.
Just drive carefully and hopefully it will start to come down
xxxHiya! :j

What are you insuring?
Overall though I'd say just wait for the dust to settle.....
Much as young male drivers have no seen any decrease yet... I wonder why older male or females have not either? Surely the extra they are raking in should decrease my premium....except perhaps at the moment they are simply not getting significant anyone younger taking out insurance?0 -
How are we meant to know what car you're trying to insure?
We're not psychic

Though it's totally irrelevant, how have you proved this?0 -
Wouldn't it of been fairer to reduce the male premiums in line with that of a female? Oh... hang on a minute...PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

No it's not ridiculous. There are many girls out there these days that are like the lads. Did you see that Kavos programme on C4 the other night? The same applies to young women driving these days too. Many of them think acting like a lad behind the wheel will get them attention and those that don't are usually busy texting or looking at themselves in the mirror while driving. Why should us chaps have to pay for the girlies to make their *innocent* mistakes while we are always guilty? Females can be just as dangerous behind the wheel as males.julieplackitt wrote: »Not sure how the websites have been updated to take account of the change but it's definately not right, how do we get it sorted???
They're updated by a programmer changing some code or a manager changing some settings. Thats how they're updated and you can't really sort that - they do as they please with their computer systems.0 -
But Tricky if the risk was the same as you seem to be suggesting then surely the premium loading would have been the same before this law came into effect?0

I know the hoary old saying is that women are meant to be fantastic drivers, far better than stupid men and sense just oozes from every eyelash.
The real reason women traditionally were charged less is that they had less claims as they made less claims than men. The reality is, on average, women drive less miles per year than men and more familiar locations. Truck drivers, delivery personnel, reps, agriculture, by in large, these are jobs for the boys. Not saying that women are incapable of being truck drivers, but the reality is most driving jobs are done by men. Therefore, men are more likely to spend more time exposed to the possibility of being involved in an incident => more likely to make a claim.
Added to that, when you see a couple using a car, it's often the man driving due to him wanting to feel manly or - whatever reason here. No need to deny psychological realities!
I know, women won't want to hear that and I'm just a big male chauvinist...
All that said - I think the most dangerous people on the road are men in people carriers! More than BMWs or 18 year old boy/girl racers! Why you ask? Well, when man is driving Zafira with woman in passenger seat and kids in back, trying to concentrate on the road while woman is nagging and children are raising hell in the back I'd bet is no small task. When man has dropped family off and driving alone in Zafira, there he is on the motorway, middle lane, Dad-rock blaring out the open window with his arm perched upon it, not giving a monkeys about the rest of the world: this is man's type for himself.0 -
DD was named on wifes car, wife was main driver so no fronting, after a year or two Tesco gave her her own NCB. When she bought a new 107 she paid 275 fully comp. It can be done but they need to look at a very low insurance rate vehicle as well.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
