what a let down not happy:mad:
Please, be kindly advised that we have just been contacted by the Revenue Manager at The Metropolitan and they informed us that the rates of your reservation, i.e. GBP 18 per night, are unfortunately incorrect and cannot be accepted. The hotel has advised that this discrepancy comes as a result of a system error that had ocurred at the time your reservation was made.
Please, kindly note that our co-operation with The Metropolitan has resulted in the hotel agreeing to offer you a compromise rate of GBP 149 per night, room only, exclusive of VAT - fully pre-paid, which is lower than the correct standard rate for this room type and dates. Alternatively, the hotel would accept cancellation free of any charges.
We would appreciate it if you could inform us at your earliest convenience of whether you wish to accept the offer made by the hotel, or whether you would prefer to cancel your reservation without penalty.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us, should you wish to discuss the matter further, or if you have any other questions.
Please, do accept our most sincere apologies on behalf of the hotel for any confusion and inconvenience this matter may cause you.
Oh, I haven't got this yet. I will, however, be informing them that I won't be accepting their paltry counter 'offer' and instead I intend to enjoy my room at the rate which I've already agreed to and paid.0 -
I've just received the email too
VERY disappointed as I'd booked it to celebrate our wedding anniversary and wanted to surprise my hubby.
Think they should have at least included complimentary breakfast or free car parking!0 -
Can they legally do that? We wouldn't have been allowed to just cancel, we have confirmation emails stating the rate?0
-
I received a telephone call-they are reviewing and will get back to me soon-I'm expecting a similar email to the previous poster....I will be annoyed but I feel it would cost the hotel more in bad press than anything else....0
-
I agree about the bad press - it seems a foolish move for the sake of what's in all probability a couple of dozen bookings, limited to just 1 or 2 days out of a possible 365...
Come on, Metropolitan London, you can do better than this!
I doubt the hotel would be fully booked anyway, after New Years Eve has been and gone.0 -
They probably think just because we like to save money, we will walk into the lobby in shell suits or something!
Just because we are clever with pennies, it does not mean we are out of place in a 5 star hotel.0 -
I expect it is buried in their T&C's that they're allowed to do this.0
-
I see there's a 'hotel chat' link on the london-hotels page, especially set up for the '£18 crew'
ADMIN
If you are part of the 18 pounds crew then log in and we can all discuss and make plans
I can't see this hotel at all, on booking.com
I didnt book but what happened to this then?0 -

Thanks for the warning. Found this in the booking.com T&C:

I think I'll give it a miss. Can they legally do that? We wouldn't have been allowed to just cancel, we have confirmation emails stating the rate?
I'm afraid they can (see above).0
