Now I've done the washing up, I'll explain why I hate debt repayments and maybe some of you will recognise the feeling.
You see this money come into your bank account each month on payday, money that you've worked really hard for and you look at it, and you think of all the things that you'd like to use it for. But you dont, because its an awful long time since you had anything at all from your salary and you sit down and you send every spare penny to the cc company and then there's hardly anything left in your account.
You look at the amount you owe and you wonder, because whatever you got from that massive amount is a far distant memory and it seems that the only thing your money is buying is debt freedom. This is something well worth buying, but every month is just a tiny chip off the iceberg and debt freedom is still a long, long way off. But still you do this every month after month because what else can you do? Yet you hate it more and more as time goes by and you resent all the work and sacrifice because life is passing by and youre not living it.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Morning! I just caught up on this thread (i know it's the crack of dawn, but I got up with OH to make his lunch and I have some spare time)
I hate:
* The price of hospital parking (Kings College, London = £5 an hour. Today i'm getting 2 busses to get there instead)
* The price of prescriptions (In theory i'm not against this, as i get VERY annoyed by these news articles regarding people DENIED drugs they need due to money issues, but I have to pay AT LEAST £13.55 a month, as they always swop my dosages, and It's not *quite* cheaper to get a pre-payment certificate and i have had a lot of trouble affording fees it in the past)
* Line rental, if you're just using broadband and don't have a home phone. Surely they make enough money from my £21 a month fee?!
I agree with the bra-conversation above, though I have M&S bra's that i've been wearing for 4 or 5 years! I went to the big new Primarks on Oxford Street last week and they had nothing above a C cup - no idea why? normal Primarks are good for larger sizes like mine, but this one just isnt! Regarding the pill, since I went on it 3 years ago i've not had a single visit from Auntie - think i'm just a bit special (or strange) - saved a fortune though! x0 -

What we need is a female version of Martin who is prepared to kick this off. (Sorry, won't be me as I am past all that business, but it did annoy me for several decades  ).
There was a big campaign, VAT was reduced from 17.5% a while back to 5%, although prices probably didn't drop that much. Spare a thought for the fellas - still paying tax on shaving tackle.
The reason it's 5% and not 0% is because of EU harmonisation and although it was proposed to be 0% on lady products the EU vetoed it and it had to be set at the min. EU rate for such things.0 -
I hate VAT:mad:
I think it's quite fair, most essentials are exempt (shame heating fuel isn't but wear a jumper!) and it's easy to minimise, buy at charity shops etc... most taxes are unavoidable. VAT at least taxes those who can afford it most with lots of spare cash to spend on bling, I guess it also is a tax on the stupid to some extent - stupid enough to buy a designer bauble, yep let's tax you out of existance - Darwinism improving the gene pool.0 -
Mrs Morten Harket I am so jealous of your weighty breasts! Mine aren't enough to wear out anything.
That is why your bras last. When you are heavy you need support or else your back hurts and your breasts get sore. After a few washes the support goes gradually. I hate old fashioned bras as well but need them - since sports bras became mainstream I have been happy.0 -
- Council Tax!It's rising out of all proportion and the service is getting worse (especially refuse collection.)
- The MoT test - just forked out,so I'm smarting.
- Hospital car park charges! So unfair.Just attended an outpatient clinic with my hubby and the Doc was an hour late arriving,so our appointment was late, and it cost us a fiver.
- bottled water - not necessary in this country.
Bank charges - but am claiming back,of course.
Wilting supermarket veg -so now we grow our own..Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.0 -
I've thought of another thing:
birthday presents for my children's friends. They are all constantly invited to parties and you have to think of some gift for a child that's already got everything they could possibly need and is going to get 30 more presents that day. Aaargh!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Council maintenance bills. Its a 1 bed flat with £104 a month council tax, then every 3 months I get a bill for at least £80 "landscaping" "cleaning" etc. I've never seen the cleaaner, and there is nothing to landscape makes me so mad! Then they charge me 12.5% admin!!!!!!!! For one poxy letter!!
To make matters worse I've just been sent a bill for £7,000 "essential work" AND they want 12.5% admin on that too!!Quit smoking 18/08/070 -
I would definatly agree with council tax. I pay a small fortune and get my rubbish picked up and thats about it. The roads are full of holes and congestioned.
I also live in a flat and think the maintence charge is a joke! I pay 85 quid a month for someone to hoover the stairs once a week and clean the communal windows once a month.
I also refuse to pay rip off prices for things ie branded frozen peas were nearly twice the price of the supermarkets own. That made me mad! I wont pay for bottled water or for expensive designer clothes.
I refuse to pay parking to go shopping in a mall (I hate them anyway) when the mall will be getting loads in rent from all the shops!
There are loads of things I hate paying for!Debt Free - done
Mortgage Free - done
Building up the pension pot0 -
Parking charges, especially when just popping into make appointment at surgery (only disabled parking there- fair enough!) but the little men are hot on the trail in public car park even if the visit is literally 5 minutes!
Also, the extra cost of travel in school holidays - for those of us teachers we never get away from this one!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0
