Hi Lu, no nothing yet, only the strawberry planter. I have dug it over and will be setting some seeds anytime soon. I normally do onions, tomatoes, sweetcorn and beetroot along with the strawbs which last year were so early. The day looks better today, windy and cold but at least its dry. Just mucked out Ned and he's toddled off to the paddock. Chucks and ducks done too so maybe hang some washing out. Have a good day.

Ive spent the morning number crunching. The eleccy bill is due to be paid in the next 2 weeks and we still havent sent off the college deposit!!! Its €750 which is quite a bit.(the coll dep) Im hoping to be able to manage the bulk and DD has to do her bit too but so far only has a couple of hundred saved towards it. Its a worry but I know once its paid we can settle and get saving towards the october bill. Grant should come in around Novemeber so its just a case of getting on with it really. Im such a worrier. We have my mum and dad coming over on the 12th for two weeks which Im really looking forward to and DS2 is making his confirmation on the 22nd, hope were not too skint to enjoy it! Im really looking forward to the Easter break now but it does seem a long way off still.

I hope you manage to get the deposit saved in time.
There are a lot of us struggling with leccy bills atm. Hopefully Spring will be with us soon.

Having your parents there and then DS2's confirmation will give you something good to look forward too. Just so long as it doesn't end up costing you a lot. Your debts look as though they are reducing fast. well done :)

Hi folks been busy with visitors for the past few weeks and am glad to get back to some kind of normality. Pulled my back out a couple of weeks ago too so that was a real pain. Good now and deposit almost there for DD, she entered a comp a couple of years back and we had to travel to Donegal anyways the money her and her pal won went to the youthclub, but since then all the winners have had their money so I was a bit miffed to say the least and thought a word with the organiser was called for. Glad I did they both now are €150 each better off, so thats what I call a result.:j If you dont ask and all that.
Moneywise still tight but I think overall were doing ok. Opened a new bank account (without charges) so will be transferring DDs etc as and when and just leave the one loan with the charging bank. I hate how they offer all these no charge incentives and then without telling you just change the criteria and hey presto you have a charge to pay. 28c per DD and cheque, withdrawal, paying in etc etc etc. Anyway only going to give them the absolute minimum from now on. Rant over. Hope everyone is having a good weekend, pouring down here but mince n mash for dinner smelling gorgeous.

Lovely day here today. DH has gone off to play golf. DS1 is off to see his girlfriend for the afternoon. DS2 is full of cold and watching tv, DD is still in bed!!!! Have managed to pay the college deposit :j and has gone out of the bank. We got there in the end. she has worked hard to be fair and paid for it herself. Now she has to save up for the rest of the summer and hopefully will get more hours. I think if we can get enough to cover the first installment of accommodation fees then her grant should help with the rest and should be through by then too.
Have an eleccy bill to find this month and also the car insurance which has gone up by €110 following my little episode last summer. Its an all in one payment so thats got to be found, also more fees for DS1 for a sailing trip and first aid course all part of his transition year fees. He'll be the one who finishes school first this year at the end of May so will have to find all that before the end of the month. Bit of an expensive month so.
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine its really lovely here today.

I take it College is not free in S. Ireland like it is in the UK?.

Have heard that S. Ireland is very beautiful & when my debt monster has been slain, I intend to come over and spend a month driving around taking photos.

Hi Patman and Lu, Patman Ireland is so gorgeous especially when we get nice weather very unspoilt very beautiful.

Hi Lu, Ned is doing fine, we had to get more hay in for him though as the grass has been very slow to grow this spring. Its been so bad for the farmers here they have been bringing hay in from England, unheard of before but needs must. When Ned has food he's happy, and he's managed to find a way into the next field too naughty ned ;) bolshy donkey he is, but we love him. Also managed to find a home for our second drake that we inherited, poor thing has been living in a separate home for about 6 months and walking around the enclosure for the hens and other ducks, they had one meeting but it would have turned into a blood bath if we hadnt separated them, 2 drakes and 3 hens doesnt go, anyway he's gone now and has a new home with ladies of his own :rotfl:

Hi Pooh yes going ok, but kids are costing a bit with activities this year, DS1 has been in transition year which although they do lots of non school stuff costs quite a bit!! DD has just finished her last official day of school but will be going in for the odd lesson and then she will sit her Leaving Cert so hopefully enough points for college in Sept. DS2 has another 5 wks left before his summer break so of course "Its not fair for him":rotfl:
Debt wise just making the minimums but not adding to the debt so I suppose progress but slowly slowly.
Hope you are doing ok, I do try to keep up but find it hard sometimes to find the time to post often enough, Must try to do better. Thanks for popping in.
