Debt free by 50 something!!

Thought a new thread was needed as I didnt make the DF by 50 and as I will be 50 plus 1 this year thought I'd change the thread. Really trying to focus this year as things dont seem to be getting any cheaper and strings are being pulled in further. DD is hoping to go to college in Sept but that is all dependant on how much can be saved by us all including her and her sunday job so fingers crossed and of course it goes without saying that we will not be adding to our debt. Here's hoping to a good 2013 Happy New budgeting folks.

Well the sun is finally shining this morning, that really does cheer you up doesnt it. Time to get some washing outside for a change. So fed up of having to put the td on and having stuff hanging around the house.

Had nothing but snow the past few days and to say Im sick of it now is an understatement. Little car has died after the episode with the AA a couple of weeks ago and is beyond help rather will cost more than its worth to fix!!! This now means back to one vehicle and arranging my life around that as before. Its a pain in the a**e with the school pick ups from the bus but the snow has helped this week. Only smallie in school today as we are able to walk to his pick up and this morning it looked ok. The others well the busdriver decided not to chance it as it was too icy, so as they get picked up 2 miles away anyway decided best leave them home today. Its finally stopped snowing now and Im praying it thaws out so we can get back to normal. DH has some local work today so a cash bonus as he didnt get paid last week!!
We had a big row at the weekend but seems ok now just financial pressure and DD who is hoping to go to college in Sept etc etc etc. Hope youre all keeping warm my hands are freezing so Im off for a warm around the stove.

A quick hello just to boost my diary up there, I couldnt find my new one duhhh. Hope everyone is well out there. Things pants here with car probs etc etc weather carp today but the weekend was kinda nice. Looking forward to some spring weather.

Thanks folks and welcome aboard. DH is concreting some more footpaths about the place today and the car is going to the mechanic later so will find out the full damage later :eek: DD is meant to be studying, ahem and is currently watching Mr Selfridge :mad: DS1 is helping dad and DS2 is not amused as he is in school until tomorrow and only has two days off this time. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Plod plod is right, still awaiting car news hope its not too bad. Rain today so just catching up with a few indoor jobs and trying not to put the drier on, it really kills me to put that on as its so expensive. Hope I can manage to put some money away for deposit for college in sept for dd, but can only do what we can.

car news was good, mechanic managed too get the wheelbearing done without too much trouble so weve paid for the part just the labour now which is usually ok. Picked up new brake pads for the old car (which will now be in service for the bus duty) its fine just for the short trip to the bus which is just down the lane a mile. We decided that DDs car is officially retired and will go to the great scrap heap in the sky as soon as. Money can go towards more car care I suppose. Its a shame but too much good money after bad and mechanic says the rings are gone so will cost too much. We have managed with just the one car for around 4 yrs now so no change really and if I can use the old car for bus duty only then were only officially keeping one car on the road IYKWIM

DS was at his girlfriends most of yesterday DD with boyfriend so I took DS2 for a much needed haircut, He's at a birthday day out in cork today with some friends DD is in work already despatched and DS1 is home so hopefully a nice quite day is in order. Hope youre all warm and cosy.
