Oh mjr600, was there such a need to be nasty to TDA10?

He/she did explain that they weren't familiar with air con and you just came on and shot them down with a horrible reply. Maybe they weren't being lazy and perhaps hadn't had time to read all of the posts yet due to work commitments or something and had bought the item and wanted to just use it there and then?

Just a thought - we don't know everyone's circumstances and I find it very sad that you were so insulting to a genuine request for help from a newbie :(

I for one didn't know what the black tube was for either...

Your previous posts have been so helpful and informative and I just think it's a shame you responded that way - that was the sort of reply people give in 'The Arms', not a (usually) nice thread like this one. :(

I've got an amusing problem with mine... It is responding to the signal from my Sky+ remote control :-)

So I cannot have the unit plugged in while I'm channel surfing or it constantly beeps or switches itself off/on. Need to find the sensor I think and block it.

I'm having a real problem with the controls on the mistral. Can anyone help with really easy instructions. None of the buttons seem to work properly. If I switch it on, the fan will come on but the fan button does not make the lights for the fan change. The only light that will come on is the 2nd small light from the top. If I press the fan control again this light goes out and the fan continues- sometimes a little harder or softer. The LED display shows 81 or 85. If I press temp.down it doesn't show any difference of the LED display. I've tried leaving it on the fan for 5 minutes and putting it on H mode, which will come up. -but the temperature control for down does not display a lower temperature even after leaving 5 mins. It is blowing out cool air but probably just as air cooling rather than air con. I cannot make the air con light come on. The only light on this side that will come on is the sun at the bottom. Sometimes when I press the temp down the LED will start to flash . I've just felt the hose and hot air is now coming out.
Could someone put down the order I should press the buttons and when I wait for the 5 mins and how to make the little lights come on. etc etc.- if poss. Many thanks Joanna

has anyone tried the argos 9000 machine available for 169? just wondering if the other one is worth the extra as the only difference i can see is the argos one doesn't have a heating option.

Ordered one of the Mistral a/c units from 24 Electric at the w/e. It was showing in stock at the time but an email received today says it's out of stock!

Has anyone ordered one and received one recently?

I've just purchased the 9000 BTU portable unit and found it very effective. It doesn't come with a proper window kit, so we've ended up dangling the hose out of an open window and drawing the curtains over it. It cools the room down well but unfortunately it's very loud - too loud to have on and sleep even on the lowest fan setting. We've ended up blasting the room for a couple of hours before bed to get it down to 18C or less and then pray it doesn't heat up too quickly!

That'll teach me for being impatient! Mistral unit has shipped - should be here tomorrow...

Sorry, probably should have been clearer - it was the Makro 9k BTU unit I bought - 68db and like having a jet engine next to you. I'm sure your mistral will be fine!

My mistral will have to go back as the display doesn't work (as above). One note of caution to others though. The booklet has info on a one year guarantee from mistrel. I asked them to repair it but they said that they cannot do this yet as it is a new product and as yet, no service staff for it.
