New deal located on a 9000 btu portable unit, this one is from Ebuyer and with the £10 Google checkout deal it comes in at £139.99 with free delivery.

That is a really great price, there is a vent kit included as well, these will surely get resold on Ebay.

The 24/electric one has a choice of 9000btu or 12000 btu so first all decide what size room etc you have. I would probably go for the 12000btu one just because there is that extra power in it.

The ebuyer one seems a better unit in the sense of it is has heat pump heating instead of using heating elements which i think the 24/electric one uses... heat pump = much more efficient.

Either seem fine but if you require 9000btu one then get the ebuyer one simply because it is more efficient.

If it was me i would go for the 24/electric 12000btu for the smallest of rooms just because mobile units have to operate through an open window which means you lose some cold air through gaps.

I own the 12000btu 24Electric unit and have so far used it for cooling and heating.

I do not believe that it produces heat via an element but that the heat pump reverses. When blowing warm air, very cold air is exhausted via the pipe, to me this is the action of a heat pump and not a heating element.

The 12000btu unit from 24Electric is still the best price and spec available but the Ebuyer 9000btu unit at £139.99 delivered is now the best price for less power.

    Thanks for the info

I am confused what to do now! It will be for our Bedroom which is medium sized (think its 16ft x14ft) and will have a bodged "vent" on the window

I was planning on buying a 12000 unit, but not sure if a 9000 will suffice. i wont use the heating part anyway.

Dont want to buy a 9000BTU and find it is not good enough, but at the same time could do with saving a few pennies!

    Any used the Ebuyer one?

Well I guess only you know how hot the bedroom gets, more power is always better than less and the 24Electric 12000 has about £6 cashback on Quidco, Ebuyer is 0.1% or something paltry.

24 electric do one of those 0% schemes on orders over £190 so it just qualifies, make sure you pay it back in time though or they go mad with the %.

One question to ask: Can the hose be directed to the room vent(extra hose length required), which is located at the top of the wall while the unit still operate well?

Yes, but make sure the hose isn't too long and that the vent goes clean through the wall without exposing the cavity.

Also got the 24Electric 12000. Cant seem to get my heating function to work. Also, any thoughts on the venting system and a template? Venting via the window is useless because of the window design. Good cooling output though!
