I'm going to save that in a text file, and next time I have a pizza, it's going to get made :D

Its good I promise. I didn't have a lot of faith when I originally made it but was quite amazed when I tasted it at how close it was.

If you haven't already found it try the Takeaway Secret thread here:

It's based on the books and using them you can genuinely create takeaway foods at home that taste the same. Some aren't brilliant (still can't get Pizzas to work and the KFC is never accurate) but others are completely spot on. I can make a perfect McDonalds Sausage and Egg McMuffin.

When I first bought those books OH and I lived on crap for a month while we went through the recipes :rotfl:
These days we use them occasionally as a treat though :D

    You should move.

It's never too late if they're still open. Yes, but not clinically. :)

Best book I ever bought and bought it right at the beginning of the original thread, the kebab is my favourite, easy and spot on.

I'm torn between the McMuffins, Big Macs or the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Actually add the American Pancakes and Sausage in that as well haha.
My copy is ragged and covered in food lol

I really wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. I now have to fight my flagging willpower for another 73 minutes until they close. :rotfl:

My local's (all four) close at 11PM but home deliver until 5AM.

OP it could be worse. I ordered a pizza from pizza hut for me to pick up after a late shift last week, they clled 20 mins before the time it was due saying they "ran out of pizza"!!! At pizza hut? Then had to call CS day after to get refund on my card and the guy on the phone had never heard of them running out of pizza before. Dominoes is better anyway, gotta love a double decadence.

i once went to KFC and they had run out of chicken.

I remember going to a Carvery once on holiday in Weston Supermare. We were with the whole family and the in laws were dragging their heels as usual. I passed a comment to OH that if they didn't hurry up the place would run out of food. They took the p out of me mercilessly for the next half hour "Who ever heard of a carvery running out of food" etc etc

The last one in our party had the last morsel of meat in the building, much to the fury of the dozens of people behind in the queue. The manager appeared and apologised, they had indeed run out of food and many apologies came my way from my stunned family. :p

To this day its a standing joke when we all go out about restaurants that run out of food.

If a company can give 50% discounts if you work for a particular company than it shows much much mark-up the full menu-price is.

Agreed. Dominos wouldn't do 2 for tuesday if it wasn't profitable... I should be in the pizza business.

I'm somewhat bewildered that we need to resort to this kind of logic to work out that dominos work on massive markups. As HappyMJ points out, it's a bit of flour, some oil and a quid's worth of toppings. The thing's put together by a spotty teenager on little more than minimum wage and delivered by another with a banger.

When the pizza costs £15+, it's not really rocket science to work out that they're operating on a pretty massive mark-up...

It's put together by an individual, all of whom have different circumstances. Just because a job doesn't pay much doesn't mean it has to be done by "a spotty teenager" or is any less valid than other types of work.
