I had a nightmare cancelling my contract with Three. Had to call numerous times, sometimes spending over an hour on hold before I finally got through to rude, uncooperative customer service advisers who simply wouldn't listen to me when I insisted I wanted to end my contract, and there was nothing they could offer that would change my mind. (Signal was abysmal, so goodwill free calls/texts were of no value!) I gave up ringing in the end, it was a waste of time and so frustrating!

Keep a note of all calls, and how long it's taking to get through. I ended up getting a goodwill payment back from them (along with a months fee back) because I'd had such a bad experience. Hopefully they should have some kind of record that you've got in touch / of your first attempt to cancel, so shouldn't charge you for extra contract if its their fault you couldn't.

Use Twitter and contact their customer team on there too - @threeuksupport I think... making a little noise on social media sometimes helps, I know they chased things up for me.

Use the email facility on their website to put a complaint in writing - and insist they contact you by email - if your signal is poor, you might not get their calls!! Good to have a written record of comms too, saves you explaining your saga over the phone multiple times.

Hope this helps, good luck xx
  • After another attempt to cancel and being put on hold for 30 mins I finally cancelled. Spoke to 2 staff members who were vvv pushy and rude .... Really stressful call but at least I got what I wanted! They tried every trick in the book to keep me ! Never again! Now I need to find a new network this whole thing has really put me off having a contract may switch to payasugo? Any advice? Thanks for the feedback!

    Any advice?
    O2/giffgaff...
    Vodafone/Asda/iCardmobile/Ovivo...
    Orange/Tmobile/Virgin/Vectone...

On a serious note, post your requirements if you really want an advice.
    Otherwise just check Ovivo.

I went to Orange. The customer service on the two occasions I've had to call them for help has been excellent, and Orange Wednesdays at the cinema is a brilliant bonus.

Have you ever used billmonitor to see how you use your phone? It's quite useful for assessing the amount of mins / texts / data you actually need. www.billmonitor.com

I had the misfortune to take out a 12 month mobile broadband dongle with 3 a couple of years back.

They lied about my usage, messed up my direct debit, and were almost imposable to communicate with.

They are the worst company I have ever dealt with, and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Use there PAYG dongle, u never need to contact them that way.
  • Same problem here - nearly 3 hours on the phone, 10 advisers and being cut off 3 times so far - I just want my PAC code.

Allowing someone to fraudulently upgrade my account and alter everything on 18 December, and then take days to sort it out was the last straw. Shop staff have been lovely and helpful, but the on the phone customer services are dreadful. How difficult is it to press the key that sends me the PAC code.

Is there an email address for Customer service Complaints?
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
