Thank you everyone for your tips on using up my milk. Managed to use most of it so only a little wasted - could've been worse and you can't plan for illness so I'm happy.
Have just done a big batch cook, DS2 has an op tomorrow so trying to have things in to save us just getting a take away.
Have cooked:
Cottage Pie (with cheesy mash)
Lasagne
Chilli
Minced Beef curry
Stovies
So plenty to do us over the next few days, DS1 staying at Grandparents so it'll only really be DH and me coz I think I'll just give the wee one whatever he wants to eat when he gets home. Will prob be tins of hotdogs and pasta shapes but as long as he is happy!0 -

Few small shops to report -seem to be doing more of these -don't know if that's a good thing or not -must plan better  but as long as it stops me spending £80 at a time in Morries and mr t's and I manage to cut my grocery bill, then I can live with that. Think I need to factor in more nsd's like you clever people on here, and meal plan better !

Think as of payday im going to attempt to go back to getting an online shop at least once a month.
Have been planning my online shop for payday (27th, lol). Can you tell I'm poor this month? Lol!
Dinner tonight is going to be Dominos pizza YUM! (Only coz we have a voucher due to a complaint last time we had it)
Has been really, really tight money wise this month, but luckily the cupboards and freezer still have a lot in them! There is added difficulty as I'm not a prepared enough person to have stuff pre-prepped and batch cooked (tbh I'm a rubbish cook and make simple quick things, most of which don't freeze well). Add to that the fact that all 3 kids are picky but with different things, and its quite tough to prep anything in advance with that, and I've been working OT on Mon and Tues nights (I normally only do weekends) so OH is doing his own thing on those nights (luckily kids are getting fed at his mums) AND I'm supposed to be following WW diet but that has kind of gone out the window ATM!No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Third NSD in a row
Have found meal planning and going shopping with my list so helpful and has meant that I don't visit my local Asd* more than I need to. My moneywasting ways meant that I couldn't go into Asd* and only come out with what I needed. I didn't have any idea what I could realistically use during the next week and so I just put what looked good in my trolley - and that meant a overloaded trolley that brought me out in a cold sweat at the checkout! This also meant lots of little visits during the week - I can't even bear to think what I must have been spending - my budget was high this month and I'm only just going to make it last so I know I have lot's of room for improvement.
It's not all about saving money and eating as cheaply as possible for me though - it's about being less wasteful with food and supporting local small businesses - I've started buying from the local grocer and butcher where I can buy just what I need (and know where the meat has come from!)
For dinner this evening I'm cooking chicken thighs in a tomato and garlic sauce in the slow cooker - it's smelling goodFeb GC £487.53/£490

NSD today. We're having pesto, pea and bean risotto for tea.
Got back from work, took the dog for a walk and am now sat in my PJs snuggled under a blanket watching the snow come down! Brrrr. x0 -

Just back from an exercise class, OH made chilli with rice (well, actually reheated the chilli from the freezer, but still appreciated!).
He spent 72p at Mr M's on saver's pitta breads and beansprouts, but also spent £7.98 on FOUR KING PRAWNS at the fishmongers :eek::eek:
They're for the Valentine's Japanese meal we're having tomorrow, which I get is meant to be a treat - but he could have bought a steak for that!!
The one saving grace is he was going to buy six and asked the woman to put two back after seeing the price (is it wrong that all I could think when he told me this was "err, why didn't you put them ALL back???" :rotfl:).Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
