I have listed everything in my larder and both the little and large freezer, lots of things lurking that I had completely forgotten about, thankfully very little out of date, I do manage to keep on top of that part of things on a reasonably regular basis.
I have also started to do a meal plan for the month, but may break that down into two fortnightly plans, the brain is not computing more than fourteen days worth of dinners in one go. (Would you believe I used to cook for a living, meal planning used to be second nature.)
I would love to include more vegetarian dishes in our diet but OH thinks his throat has been cut if meat is not included in a meal, he did look like I had chopped his arm off when I mentioned the idea, but he will have to like it or go without I think, when he does all the shopping and cooking he can have what he likes, until then, tough luck.
The shopping list has been started, unfortunately I only really have Mr T and S within a reasonable distance of me, so will have to cherry pick from the two of them. I have loved reading the January GC over the last few weeks and have been inspired by everyone that it is not just possible to keep within budget, but to also have fun doing it.
Good luck to everyone.0 -
Big beginning of month shop done, £81.03 eeek! Although £24 of that was on fish which should make at least 6 well filled fish pies. Hopefully will be able to claw it back across the rest of the month!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200

Hi,
Still finishing up on Januarys budget this week, but can you please put me down for £320 this month.
I will have spent around £280 in January (I hope) but want to buy half a pig from the farm in February. Februarys budget is still slighter lower than the £370 I usually spend a month! Going to have shop savvy for this oneWorking hard to to pay off the mortgage within 5 years instead of 9 by considering every penny spent. Aiming to go part time the and enjoy a simple life with simple pleasures!0 -
Lost track of January, so starting again, I will track myself in signature. Aiming for £250 this month, although we are away on holiday so should manage that to be closer to £200.
A small success so far, using a gift card and points my shopping was £18 instead of £43, and it was meal planned before I went out.Debt free and saving :j0 -

OH doesn't really like butternut squash (funny texture) but we get them in our veg box so I have to use them. He does like this spicy autumn squash stew recipe using squash however and its easy to make in the slow cooker.Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320
