I'll be doing that this evening. I blame the headfog on my low willpowerEven have a bit of fresh ginger to add to it.

I had a devil of a job keeping track of all that, so I just ran my grocery budget on a calendar month basis. I actually worked out a daily amount, so my monthly budget was that figure multiplied by the number of days in a month.
I now have just the Widow's Pension on the next to last working day, a part-time salary on the last working day, and my son's "keep" (he's almost 24 and working full-time) on the first working day of the month - so they still work best to a calendar month budget. But I feed me every day, my son roughly 2 weekdays a week, and my OH on a Saturday - so I've figures for each of those and work out my monthly budget according to how many days (me), weekdays (son) and Saturdays (OH).
Works for me, even if it confuses the heck out of everyone else :rotfl:Cheryl0 -

€23.43 to add to total, unfortunately. Dried fruit and pulses, tortillas, bin bags, baked beans, ice cream (naughty!) and a stock up on original source shower gel and handwash as it's half price at the moment. No more toiletries or pantry bits (apart from a bag of brown rice) needed for the rest of the month.
In other purchases - when did Lemsip get so expensive? Picked up a small pack of lemsip max as have a horrible cold and it was around a fiver! That's nearly a euro a sachet! If I wasn't feeling so miserable I'd have left it on the shelf.
If you have an Asda where you are their own brand lemsip drinks are very good and about half the price!0 -
Well, came in quite a bit over budget for January, but have quite a lot of good quality meat and fish in the freezer so I am hoping to do better in February. Nevertheless, I will maintain £300 for February.
I hope most were more successful in their budgeting endeavours for January.
An NSD today has, at least, got the week off to a good start. It is surprising how heartening it is to get through to Thursday/Friday with a good result so that something in the way of a reward can be offered to oneself at the weekend. Especially when the rugby is on!
Best of luck all.____________________________________________

Managed to get 6 HM burgers and a huge cottage pie out out one pack of £2.49 mince by padding out with breadcrumbs and onions.
Pinkypig - is that the mince from Aldi? Is it about 800g? I looked at that today but thought I'd get a few reviews about it first - is it tasty then? Such a good price************************************************************

A NSD for me. Rather pleased as rejigged the menu plan and it looks like there's an oppertunity to use all the veg in the bottom of the fridge. 3 hm ready meals in freezer for hubby next week and 3 lots of fresh pasta and sauce.
I've Enough soup for the 4 days of this week and 2 more portions so no panicking when I get home that I have loads of cooking to do. On the whole, this month is going well.Grocery Challenge January 2013 282/300

Another £5 spent today, and roughly that on Sunday (so much for the expected NSD), need to keep a better eye on receipts for exact figures, but am still wearing my GC L plates! Still over budget, more and more every day, made a mess of this! Still... This week will be not as bad I hope, I'm eating from the freezer and only need to buy potatoes, bread, milk and sultanas now!0

Just not going to be able to keep up with the thread this month, a bit manic in general! However I will still keep track of my spends and hopefully end up under my target!Kitchen Debt - 2820/260Save £12k in 2013 #060: 1293.24/3000MFW: 88760.00/85000.00 (4.24% paid)0
