I had a no spend day yesterday because I went to mums for my dinner, Saturday me and OH had a freezer meal so doing not bad so far.

I'm just sitting trying to meal plan just now but I just can't seem to get out of my current food rut! Need to google for inspiration.

Meanwhile I quite fancy a lamb curry but no idea where to get lamb cheaply, we do have a local butcher but he is quite expensive. I have an Al*i, Li*l, Mr A, Mr T and Mr M all on bus routes around but I tend to shop in one shop as its easier - a habit I'm hoping to break.

First shop of the month done - €147.33/€600!!

Is it me or does everything seem to go up in price in January/February??? I noticed a few items going up by 20-30c.

Also DD1, who's at Uni, is getting very good at slipping a tenner's worth of shopping into the trolley! In her first term she was Miss Independent and wanted to do her own shopping. Now she's getting cuter at making her weekly allowance stretch!! ;)

Just back from Al*i where I spent £6.90, got a whole frozen leg of lamb, tube of tomato puree, bag of 15 yorkshires, a savoy cabbage and a box of cotton buds.

Lamb is being defrosted and will morph into a curry, a lamb dinner and some other lamb dishes yet to be determined. Was at the library earlier and managed to pick up "takeaway secrets" and Levi Roots book so hoping for some lamb inspired recipes from there.

I have chicken and salmon in the freezer but a complete lack of beef so now on the look out for cow based offers - I'm going to attempt to get some from Mr M's discount shelf but I never seem to get there at the right time. I think I might spend a day in there just to time when the reducing guns come out.

Hi, just totalled my January spends and went just over. Had a full house for lunch yesterday so the feb spends are already racking up but luckily the cupboards and fridge freezer are pretty full so shouldn't have to spend too much this week.

Bargain of the year so far for me was 3 punnets of grapes for 10p each at Mr M, at 8:30 in the morning!!

Chicken and mushroom curry for dinner, yum.

That sounds like a nice dinner to me:T I often stretch a bit of chicken. It's amazing how far you can make it go:D and I love cashew nuts.

Just finished the 250 cal meal of prawns , cous cous, broad beans and baby salad leaves. Squeezed a bit of lemon juice and a few frops of balsamic over it and it looked very presentable. I might get a few more bags of the prawns because they were really nice:) I think the meal for 2 of us worked out at around £1.75 each.
