    Morning all!

£5.90 spent yesterday in Mr W on chicken, basmati rice and 2 limes. Made coconut crusted chicken yesterday served with spinach, fried onion and pine nut rice.

Had toast with jam for breakfast (Jam is nearly finished thankfully) Have leftovers for lunch and tonight I'm doing chicken in a cider and chutney (FINALLY finishing another jar of chutney!), served with sweet potato mash and cabbage.

Need to get cider and sweet potatoes today (and maybe Marmite - a bit addicted to this at the moment :D)

  • Morning all, bit late but am aiming for £80 in February as it's a 4 week month and I reckon £20 per week is doable. Haven't spent anything as yet. Good luck all :)

  • Right, first week of grocery spending has come in at a whopping, mind blowing £78.83!
But this did include a dinner party for 7 people on Fri evening! No regrets!

Will have to reign in the budget for the rest of the month but I do have a fair bit in the cupboards, fridge and freezer.

Will make a very strict shopping list for each week from now on! :(

Pinkypig - is that the mince from Aldi? Is it about 800g? I looked at that today but thought I'd get a few reviews about it first - is it tasty then? Such a good price :)

    Hiya Maximus

I use it all the time and it is great. The only down side is that it is not as lean as some of the more expensive stuff but i just brown it in a dry pan and drain the fat off with a spoon which takes less than a minute and what is left is as good as the premium stuff. When I use it for burgers I grill them so the excess fat drains off.

    Give it a go!

No more spends today apart from the £2.20 Mr F overspent on last week's budget. :(
I didn't eat too well during the day - got an annoying tickly cough. I did eat all my dinner. :)
Well Mr F didn't have extractions today - had impressions taken so could eat his dinner.
We had HM cheese/onion/potato pie with roast potatoes, roast parsnip, savoy cabbage, brocolli, carrot and gravy.

Dinner tomorrow savoury rice and sausages. Packet of rice - OOD and sausages from the freezer.

This sounds like a challenge for me. I live alone but still get through roughly £100 weekly on food, eek. I am a big eater but also buy a lot of extras as treats. On the positive don't eat many takeaways. This month am going to try and reduce it to £50 weekly and keep a record of everything.
    Gail.
It is very possible. Im single and i eat 3meals a day, plus healthy snacks. I only spend £60 per month, which also includes, wine, toiletries and all cleaning products (household stuff and soap powder etc), which last a while, so dont buy them every month). The occasional treat pops in, but as cooking from scratch is far healthier anyway its ok. Whilst cooking a healthy roast last night, i used half a left over loaf for bread and butter pudding and bread pudding. It does take planning, but well worth the health and saving money benefits.

The first grocery shop of the month has been done. £27.27 spent in Asd@ which included £2 for a t-shirt for ds (aged 8) ready for summer. If I buy bits and pieces when I see them cheap it saves such a big outlay on his clothes when (and if) the weather does turn better.
