I've only been to one park in Europe with Sun hols which was 204 Domaine de Drancourt. Very tidy, clean site with small pool and playground and a little chateau which houses a nice bar, wifi etc. The local town (St Valery sur Somme) is lovely - well worth a visit. This park is about 1.5 hrs drive from the Calais/Boulogne ferry ports.
Thank you I shall check it out!
Would you do Europe with Sun holidays again?
  • Hello

I'm new to this forum but have been to Italy twice through the Sun offer. First time was to Marina di Venezia, which was fab, but that's not on the list this year. Last year I went to Pra Delle Torri (313), which was also fab. These large Italian parcs are not for those looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday but if you like lots of activity then they're excellent. You have to like mosquitoes though! I have done both of these by public transport (plane, train, bus) and this has been part of the adventure (and much cheaper than hiring a car or using taxis). Caravans have had decking and have been fine. Usually no/not many English people on site (mid July) which suits some people and not others.

I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the booking to open!:j
  • @GemDoll yes deffo x

We are trying for Cornwall this time - always wanted to go but it seems v expensive. Hopefully the Lizard area because it's supposed to be stunning scenery :)
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

    Hypnotherapy rocks :j
  • Thank you for posting the words so far... does anybody have the lists of words from previous years as these all look very familiar. If they haven't been very original in setting the words, it might be quickest just to pop those in first when the site's open.
    cheers!

How have you found the overall cost of the holidays doing it this way? We're a family of four and I wonder about cost of flights etc. I'm not looking to fly this year but definitely next year!

Hi does anybody know whats the code for tomorrow?

it is most properly going to be MARE,as there using the same words as in 2010,
except you only needed 8 words then so the put 2 extra ones in there this time :rotfl:
  • for those of you who have booked online previously do you need to pay the full balance of your holiday when booking online or is it the standard £38 as when you book by post then you pay the rest off when you get the confirmation. stressing as can't afford to pay for two full holidays just now but two £38 i can probably do

The cost has been incredibly cheap but I have been going before the end of the school summer term as my daughter has had different term times to most schools (though not this year :( ).

Flights to Venice are pretty cheap at most times of year compared to many other places. Trains and buses in Italy are very cheap and reliable so it's feasible to travel around once you're there. One year we got a sleeper train down to Naples to do Vesuvius and Capri which was fantastic.

I've usually added a few days to the holiday via Eurocamp and these 3-4 fours cost more than the rest of it put together but it means I can get 10 or 11 days rather than 7. I think I paid about £100 per night for the extra nights but many of the sites are also in the KeyCamp brochure and they seem cheaper so I might book extra nights with them this year and change accommodation mid-holiday.

I usually check out the cost of all relevant, available flights just before booking opens on the Sun site so if my first choice holiday isn't available, I have an idea of how much the flight is going to cost for the holiday I can get availability for.

    Finger crossed for this year!
