  • Excellent information, picking up lots of tips on here! What about changing the car you put on your ferry booking & adding roof rack etc on- does anyone know how easy this is to do?
  • Does the next promo in April cover october half term? Friends interested in coming with us in october if they can manage to get the same park as us.

I've changed my car several times, without charge and once with a £10 fee.
I had a problem with my vehicle and thought I might have to use my moms.
But they advised me to let me know the day before setting off and it was fine. I used my moms in the end without charge.

    Thanks that's encouraging :)

Finally got my ferry confirmation through today a week after booking the holiday. I didn't realise they booked the times for you and you don't get to choose your own :(

I paid an extra £10 for the returning ferry so we'd get longer to get back to the UK and they've booked us onto the 2pm one which now is very much a waste of the extra money as we'll have to leave the site and go straight to the port :(

Won't make that mistake again! Even though it costs more I'll book direct with the ferry company in future!

Ah, what a shame. I thought you were able to choose your own times as well!
How much did you pay with the discount, are you doing 7 or 4 nights.? I've noticed a lot if people are doing 7 nights this promotion. Perhaps that's why there is less availibility/ choice of times.

Just doing the 4 nights. So by having to leave the site and go directly to the ferry port on the Friday we're basically losing a day that we could have spent in Calais :-( AND by getting a later ferry there than we wanted we're going to hit rush hour traffic on the Monday morning or have to wait around for 4 hours when it's a 3 hour drive for us to get to the port!

The email says "Should you have any queries about your ferry booking, please call P&O Ferries" I've just called them and they said any amendments have to be made by The Sun as it's effectively their booking. And of course, The Sun helpline is only open 9-5 Monday-Friday :-(

that's why I prefer to view and book my own times, I heard of someone getting a 1pm ferry and they were a 6 hour drive from the port. With kids to leave at 5am it's not funny when you have to factor in regular toilet stops !
Last time I didn't see what I wanted and we wanted to stay an extra day and amble back to the port and sight see so when the booking went funny and I got that £29 P&O deal instead whilst waiting for the sun to get back to me I was actually really lucky.

yesterday despite the sun telling me the booking site is fine, it still tells me it's not valid because there is no travel to france on the 24/25 may and even if there was in addition to the basic £40, there is a £10 each way supplement to travel at a reasonable time and and extra £10 each way for longer than 5 days, so at £60 it's £4 cheaper than what P&O have quoted me , not at sailings I want but at least I can choose something near enough!!

  • Just got our extra charges for Butlins for a weekend in July a extra £230 for 3 days after booking with the sun. A total rip off as it's cheaper to book direct with Butlins so I have now changed our booking and will never book through one of these again!!

That seems very high. What were the extra charges for? Did you add many 'extras,. Apart from entertainment passes, service charge and bed linen if you were taking it, how did it come to £230? That should be more than the cost of the whole weekend. Did you upgrade accomadation as well?
