;58458293]But if there were no JSA, you'd take a job just to survive, wouldn't you?

Fair point about being overqualified though. That must suck. Good luck I hope you get something soon.
What you actually said was " Did you know that the benefit system only accounts for 3% of public spending in the UK?. Please get your facts in order, off your damn high horses and stop reading tabloid rubbish before you think you know what you are talking about. Ignorance is not bliss when soaked in arrogance"

what Karma Queen means is old reported infomation but she has a point and is quite right
The stark evidence of the growing imbalance between what the Government raises and what it spends is likely to intensify the political row over the public finances and may strengthen calls for cuts in spending.

Treasury figures show that welfare payments will exceed income tax receipts by almost £25 billion. Normally, income tax receipts comfortably cover the benefits bill.In 2008/09, gross income tax receipts were £152.5 billion. In the same year, social security benefits cost the Exchequer £150.1 billion.

In 2009/10, the Treasury is expecting to take in £140.5 billion in gross income tax receipts. Social security benefits are projected to be £164.7 billion.

Not entirely hard to work out in dividends that the whole bill is three per cent per quarter 12% per cent yearly with additional interest added from unemployment raising but Government dont want the blame for that do they? They are trying to sweep it under the carpet like Labour did?

Fair point. And I agree if must be tough for people like you.

But like I said, there are people out there who be mortified if they ever had to take a job because they have no intention of getting one ever.

I'm lucky if I get £71 a week (I work) so honestly I'd MUCH rather be on JSA. It's not like i'm the only person being paid this little so of course people are having JSA as an option! it's better than working in some cases.

With improved working conditions and wages I'd no longer be wishing I was on JSA. it's the work and wages that need to be improved, not the benefits that need cutting.
