I don't believe it's akin to adultery, but I sure as heck wouldn't be happy about it.

    Yes it is cheating, imo.

If you wouldn't tell your OH about something because you know they'll be upset (barring telling them bad news, obviously) then you shouldn't be doing it!

Yes, to me it is. If someone is sending sex texts, it must mean that they are thinking about the other person in a sexual manner, surely?
  • I would say so, yes. How would you feel if your girlfriend was having text sex with a guy? And is the messages being hidden from the other gf/bf?
I do not think that the girl has much respect for her husband or that the male has any respect for his. Also if the found out that they were doing behind there back then there will be loads of trust issues (what else have they been doing behind my back).
If the husband is aware what the wife is doing and is fine with it and vice versa then there is not a problem.

I don't believe it is akin to adultery (in either the religious or the legal meanings of the term).

But if it was my partner/spouse who was doing this, I would be furious and upset, and I would be questioning the strength of our relationship. But that is just me.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

Yes it's cheating - if my husband would be upset if he read it, I wouldn't send it (and vice versa). The intention is there even if nothing physical has happened (yet).

The OP has to ask themselves how would they feel if they found those type of messages on the phone of their partner...

... if it would hurt you, then why do it to anyone else?

...but thinking about them in a sexual manner isn't adultery...

...is talking/texting about doing something really as bad as actually doing it?

We would both consider it as bad, yes, but others may well think differently.
