Food price hikes!!

It just seems a very big jump- not a few pennies, but 15p this time.
I roughly get 16 loves out one pack, so only 6p a loaf. Not bad as other wise it is £1.30 for a loaf (Hovis for example)0

I don't normally hang around this end of the MSE Forums, so I hope I'm posting this in the correct place
I love "Henry Goode's Soft Eating Liquorice" but am disgusted to have been hit by the old "shrink the pack size / keep the price the same" trick this week.
I bought a 300g bag of liquorice from Tesco on 04 June; it cost me £1.82.
I bought another bag on 12 June and I was again charged £1.82 - but for only a 200g bag.
Fortunately I'd forgotten about the first pack and it was still in the store cupboard, so I could directly compare the two bags.
I am not happy that the price of the product has effectively increased by 50% (not by 33% as I originally mistakenly stated - thanks to Nada666 for correcting my rage-fuelled maths!), especially as there was no indication of this when I bought it !
I've sent a rant to the manufacturer to see what their reaction is; not bothering to contact Tesco as I know it will be a waste of time
Rant over; as you were...

It's worse than that - that is a fifty percent increase in price, not a 33 percent bump!0

You're right - I'm so angry about it my maths skills went completely out of the window !
I've now corrected my original post, thanks. :D :D

How does the price stack up elsewhere? I suspect that Tesco's are at least partly responsible.
 edit: Apparently, it's only £1 for 300g at Asda.0

Tesco have a database to assess the most popular and least popular products so prices go up on popular and down on unpopular to maximise revenue.
 Boycott them!!0

 UPDATE 17/06/13:
I got a reply from Henry Goode today, which totally misses the point that Tesco are damaging their brand's reputation and they've lost a customer:
 "Henry Goode Soft Eating Liquorice
We were concerned to receive your email regarding the above product you have purchased.
Retailers are responsible for their own stock orders, which are usually driven by customer demand. In addition, the range of products they are able to stock is dependant on the size and location of the store.
Each retail outlet will determine their own prices which are usually dependent upon the price they are able to initially purchase the goods. Although we are able to set a recommended retail selling price of our products, we cannot actually control what is being charged by each retailer. I can confirm that this products RRP is £1.49.
I know it is frustrating when prices fluctuate greatly but it is something which is beyond our control. I hope this information explains the process and that you will continue enjoying one of the many products we are very proud to continue producing.
 Yours sincerely

I contacted Tesco as well, just for the sheer masochistic hell of it; no reply as yet (big surprise).
