I know - Mr T is at it as well. The value packet noodles were 11p, now 15p.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

shows how popular they are and maybe the supermarkets have a look at what we reccomend on this site0
-
That's because you guys have been buying them after recomendations on here so they are capitalizing!0

I noticed during my last shop there was a price increase on quite a few of the basics things which I buy
tin of basics pineapple was 30p now 32p,
12 pack ready salted basics crisps was 68p now 70p
basics pack of cotton wool pads was 49p now 55p
along with the tea bags already mentioned 27p to 35p
so that's 18p more between just 4 items and while the basics is still comparitively cheap over the rest of the shop even just 1 or 2 pence on each item soon adds up.
I always double check the prices on mysupermarket when doing the list, and again when I'm in the store, against the various other brands available just to make sure I'm getting the best deal, and will go with whatever works out the best but it is getting harder to keep costs down. For us Sains still works out the cheapest and is at least reasonably pleasant to shop in.
Grocery shopping has never been a particularly enjoyable pastime for me, but now I've got into doing the GC, checking the cupboards/freezer first and then making/printing out a proper list from mysupermarket I spend much less time in the store as well as less money but we have better stocks and eat better.0 -
Even the lady on the checkout in my local Sainsbury's was complaining about the increase in Basics prices. She reckons it's because more people are buying them, so they put the price up (Maybe she was on a short term contract. If not, she probably is now) !Normal people worry me.0

I've got a shopping list app on my phone and when I first got it about 6 months ago I entered the prices of items I regularly bought from Sainsbury's so that when I shopped at Aldi I could decide which was cheaper as hubby gets staff discount at Sainsbury's. I was planning my shopping list for tomorrow and noticed that in that time their tube of tomato pur!e has gone from 49p to 65p! Outrageous! Needless to say we buy Aldi's which is either 25p/29p if memory serves me right. I agree that they're hiking prices but by much bigger percentages than I ever remember before. It wasn't so long ago that on average the number of items purchased on our receipt equated to, on average, £1 per item so with 100 items the bill came in around £100 but nowadays those 100 items are costing more like £170!!! That's a 70% increase in our weekly shop in approx 5 years. When will it end?

Tesco have increased the price of their basic tomato sauce from 18p to 30p, and the double concentrate fruit cordial from 28p to, I think, 40p. That's quite a bit more than a penny or two, and the tomato sauce has almost doubled in price.0

I have noticed in the past that the price of these can be anywhere between 27p - 35p. They go up and down like yo-yos!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Tesco's Light Choices soups was 46p last week, now 59p that's an increase of 28%
for eating healthier food. Well done Mr T that's just what we all neededThe only thing that is constant is change.0 -
