It's meant to be enjoyable isn't it!
I haven't said anything on here yet but have kept up over the last two days on the subject.
To say I'm shocked at the attitude of some of the members on here is an understatement! I'm very surprised a BG hasn't come along and closed the thread after the bickering earlier
I quoted Jason above on the one thing that many people seem to forget about comping - "It's meant to be enjoyable". Enjoyable, fun, a hobby - as long as it's free to enter what on earth have you got to complain about? I enter lots of comps in the postal & phone thread - which costs me - yet don't win half as much as I do from the free online entries - I'm not moaning!! And I've always said that if comping ever becomes to feel like a chore or job then I would give it up. To me, comping is about fun - you might win, you might not. So what?! It's not anybodies God given right to win a single thing!!
As to all these "newbies" that have appeared just to have a rant on this forum about Loquax - why? Are you incapable of doing it on Loquax itself? Why bring the bad vibes over here? I'll ask you politely to stay away unless you're going to be nice, as most long-term members on here would be to you.
Manners cost nothing - please remember thatThanks to all posters :A0 -

its called having your own opinion dear . i know loquats who were scared of actually speaking their mind , for fear of being banned , just for having an opinion0 -

It's not a good idea to bring it over here and it's really not very nice to see people being tetchy and accusatory with each other on here about posts and users on another site when it really has nothing to do with this site at all.
I also really don't understand why people have to choose between the two sites, why can't they just use them both, there's enough space for everyone on all sites, no? Just keep the disagreements on the site they've come from.
I understand what you are saying but there are a lot of people who use this forum but used loquax for competitions. People are very angry and upset at the moment. Although many like me understand the reasons as to why they stopped posting competitions its the suddeness that has shocked and angered people.
I found out like most people I would guess by going on the competition lists seeing none there and then having to go on the forums to find out why.
I have decided to go back to prize finder. I hope more of the other loquats go there and lets start something new.0 -
Oh my! It's a hobby people. If you can't enter competitions then find something else to occupy your time or find another site that does list competitions.
The web hosts that allow people/themselves to post the competitions on their sites aren't obligated to do so under the Competition Act 60990, they are kind enough to let us do so.
If the owners of Loquax are now changing their set up to allow them to grow their business - that's their decision and not one that needs to approved by users of their website.
Yes, you may have been loyal to them by using their forum/site but it wasn't for their gain, you used that site for your gain in the hope that you'd win from some entries.
Loquax isn't the only competition listing site out there, not sure I can think of any off hand though.
Anyhow, good luck with any new ventures you undertake Jason xThe shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -
I think Jason 'family reasons' is enough of an explanation and it's obviously for personal reasons and not financially driven as he's already stated.
Think the moaning about loquax is a bit unfair - they still have the forum open, there are other sites paid or free to use and plenty of competitions for everyone to enter.
I feel quite sorry for Jason with all the negativity going on - and i'm not even his biggest fan - but I am human and 'family reasons/personal reasons' are just that personal and not for broadcasting about.
I think people should respect that and go find some competitions to enter.
As jason rightly stated - comping should be a fun hobby and we should all just be polite to each other no matter what our opinions are.
I wish Jason a Happy New Year no matter what he decides to do and a happy new year to all compers - no matter what site or forum they choose to use.
SandyNot really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -

I don't really get the suddeness bit though. It's not ideal for some compers but I'm pretty sure that any way we did this would result in the same kind of posts/comments etc. It's not an easy process to keep everyone in the loop, happy, and understanding.I feel quite sorry for Jason with all the negativity going on
It's tough to read some of the stuff but c'est la vie...

at the end of the day we can all look for competitions ourselves and enter them, I am grateful for MSE and all the people that contribute and if they want to shut the Loquax site, its up to them, its not like anyone was paying for it!0

Ok people it's time, good luck everyone
And it's not meant in a nasty horrible way, just that the decision is made and nothing can be done about it. Welcome to all from Loquax and good luck to Jason too xA strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 -
I started comping through here but found Loquax and found it easier to use (I'm a visual person so those little clickable duckies really helped me out!) and I was definately shocked when I heard that it was going as there had been posts from Jason regarding other paid for subscription sites where he was being protective of Loquax.
Definately a shock but I knew I could just return here and get back on the waggon and if Jason has family issues, then he needs to deal with that first.
I agree that the Loquax forums could be a bit nasty at times so hopefully this community will fit me better, anyway, but for the next few months I'm going to lie low, get used to the format and then start to get more involved on here when I'm sure of the format etc.0
