Loquax closing / not posting comps anymore!!

Presumably it is closing as it doesn't make enough money for Jason to offset the hassle. If it were a pot of gold they would simply hire more staff.0

I talked about this a few months ago - Like prizefinder they were paying the runnning costs themselves, so im guessing they are gonna move to make money out of their site.
But it still amazes me why people use prizefinder, 'di coke' is a pro comper - yet they give away prizes???
Im sorry but something very fishy about that if you ask me, why does she enter comps when her joint site offer prizes etc?????
'Conflict of interests' going on there.Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
I've been on Loquax for a couple of years and found the listings really clearly laid out and easy to use. I feel like a homing pigeon without a home, I hope I can settle in here.
Welcome to MSE. I've been using this forum for a while on and off now and I can't imagine how I'd feel if it were to close, so I sympathise with your lost feeling. This is a lovely, friendly place to be, I'm sure you'll feel settled here really soon.:hello:Hello and thanks to all you gorgeous MSErs posting comps, answers and advice xx0 -

People say the same about me 'conflict of interests' because I run the competitionclub website.
Di and myself are both just compers who got offered some work - we just list the competitions etc.. we don't enter any of the inhouse competitions (that our employers are running) as we don't work for the promoters of the competitions we list - where is the conflict of interest?
For example I don't work for coca cola, or evan, or whoever the promoter happens to be - I work for oxfordshire press.
I get people kicking off at me all the time for winning competitions myself.
At the end of the day Di and myself are just 2 very lucky compers that have managed to get a job doing something we love. I have always been a comper and think that add's to the service as I can give proper advice and help to others as it's something I do myself and understand.
(sorry if this is a bit ranty - just don't understand the 'conflict on interests' which keeps being aimed at Di and myself )Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
And for every ''loquax'' style site that closes another 2 open, thats just life if theres no quax, theres ALWAYS plenty of other sites.
No loss at all, it wouldnt matter if mse closed either theres always plenty of places for comps (i however prefer mse, but i wouldnt lose any sleep over it, im here for comps, if i cant get them here i can get them elsewhere)
So dont lose any sleep over it and get comping.
And to jason, I said to you on here 3-4 months ago you treat it as a business yet you make no money and you would have to close unless you made money....Which you said 'will never happen'..................ERM I guess you were wrong then.
Didnt see anything about you treacle, just hate when certain people who are professional compers & run sites - comment to companies like its their first ever time entering a comp, someone over xmas who had won an ipad in november said on a fb comment/ competition ''id so love to win an ipad, its a dream''
I very kindly posted their winning post from their fb to the companies wall (maybe she just forgot, lol)
Oh and suprise suprise the lady didnt win!!Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
I didn't mean to rant - and no you hadn't mentioned me. But i'm in the same boat as Di.
I get an awful lot of aggro when I get wins with the whole 'conflict of interests' phrase used and don't get it - as there isn't a conflict of interests.
I admitted defeat of winning a new tv or ipad and brought a new tv in dec and asked hubby for a tablet for xmas. I'll prob go and win them now as I had been entering tons of competitions for them :-) always the way.Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
Which you said 'will never happen
Our 'failure' (15 years of listing comps isn't bad now, is it) was that we should have ironically, based on a posting above, ran the site a lot stricter in a business sense - including not investing time/resources on stuff that didn't earn it's keep. If it was the case we probably could have shut off comps a long time ago (years ago).
In reality it was always a loss leader - and lately it was one that was swamping us (advent was a nightmare last year) - and one that was unsustainable once it was evident we'd need to rejig things to stay competitive against the likes of MSE and prizefinder.
Loquax continues - but how things transpire I do not know, but life goes on doesn't it. I just know the choice we've made is right for a lot of reasons and once this settles I think most compers will see it as the case.
Life's too short for stressing about comps - if one thing comes out of our decision it's that I hope people remember that.
It's meant to be enjoyable isn't it!

Thats never worked for me :rotfl: Doesn't stop me from trying though.
In regards to Loquax (well I probably should actually talk about the subject of this thread) I personally have never used it as I didn't know about it, just came straight here. Sorry to hear that some people are going to have to figure out how a different site works, but you will get there. Dont lose heart about comping. Good luck to you allCurrent Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
