Like I said earlier, read some of Jason's posts over the last few months and read between the lines. This was not a quick decision, this has been on the cards for a long time. However I did think it was the forums that caused the most grief so am quite surprised the forums are staying.

I remember commenting to some FB comping friends about a year ago that I could see Loquax closing soon, just surprised it lasted a further year.

    Still very sad news though.

    How? Pls explain :o

I think what Salmon is saying is that we may have a new influx of 'new' compers.

I started off using Prizefinder, then went to Loquax and ended up here - but they are all used in my hobby so it is a shame to lose such a great resource.

I think Di & Steve at http://www.theprizefinder.com/ will also be a first port of call for ex loquats - they now have trackers and have ready sorted date ending lists.

MSE is forum based and therefore difficult to navigate compared to a custom built comps listing site so may frustrate many who have previously used Loquax.

Although the forum for Loquax is still there and may evolve as existing users recover from the initial shock.

    Xmas Saver!
Does theprizefinder & here have some or most of the same comps?

I would not remember which ones I had entered on which sites :o

I have only comped on here as it's run brilliantly & know that most comps listed on here would not generate lots of spam where a site like theprizefinder would be more likely to

    What a shame!

I never used loquax to comp, but i did enjoy reading the competitions discussions on there, Jason's blogs and see what people had won.

I agree with sugarbabe61 in regards to it being on the cards for a while, but i didn't know it would be so soon and especially right at the start of the new year. Still, it must be quite a shock to regular loquax users!

I'm now a Loquax user without a home. I never really used the forums becaue everyone always seemed to be arguing, and I'm kinda sad that they did this with no notice. I and other users have said many times we are happy to offer help not just in money terms but in volunteering time, but these offers have always been flatly refused. They always said the best way we could contribute was by submitting competitions...but the reason they are closing is because there is too much to get through?!

Anyway, I suppose I'm going to have to find somewhere else if I want to carry on with the hobby I love. Perhaps Prizefinder? Another thing I just realised is that us Loquats going on to other websites are going to have to be very careful we don't enter duplicates over the next month or so as there is no way of exporting tracked competitions from Loquax to another website like Prizefinder.
  • There seems to be some diehard loquats that will hear nor want to hear any opinion that is not what they want to hear!!!
Jason has shafted loquax's loyal users FACT! not by closing his competition listing service, but by keeping shtum about his plans (for some time it would seem) and just announcing the end with no warning. I for one do not still want to be part of a site that treats it's members so poorly!!!
I won't be going back there that's for sure! Plenty more comps in the sea elsewhere is my new outlook!!! :T

Hi,I must be missing something but why consider Prizefinder when you are posting on a resource that must have more comps posted?

That is a good point you make Izzieuk re wanting more comps but no longer listing as too many to get through? I think there is far more to this than we know and we will never know.

I only posted occasionally in the forums as I find them far too "cliquey" and in my opinion too many members who got away with some of their nasty comments and snide remarks for far too long. Only today I read a thread that was closed by Jason due to certain members having issues with one certain poster. That is why I am surprised the forums are staying as they seemed to cause the most problems?

WOW sugarthief, your attitude really stinks, for you to be a member of loquax for so many years, use the comp listings, ask for advice on your child rearing etc etc but then turn so quickly is disgraceful.

Although I used to use Loquax I rarely do now, there are so many other sites I use that are better

The arguing in the forum is nasty sometimes, especially when talking about people on any benefits (always the same people ganging up) and so will not miss that either.

Trying hard to think of something I will miss but it is all in the past (glory days). So will thank them for starting me off in comping years ago and wish them good luck and good health
