  • No they won't be joining here.. They will be too busy wasting their time trying to save a sinking ship... Oh! And playing Sherlock and not forgetting abusing people...... Well I for one will be using my spare time wisely and happily comping... Maybe there will be a few less entrants to compete with while people like this are wrapped up in their quest of evil!!! :rotfl: :T ;)

This was my actual reaction when I saw this thread
I used to use The Prizefinder only, and then for some reason, I found Loquax much easier to use and then switched to there before coming here, all of which I used in conjunction with each other anyway.

I'm actually quite sad about this, but I think MSE is the best comping resource I have found and people are so welcoming on here (I never tried out Loquax's forum).

Oh well, what can ya do? :(

Jeez, there's some angry people on here. I never see rage of this level on MSE normally. I guess what people said earlier about the snarkiness level of Loquax forumites is true. *baiting*

That said, Loquax was my first comping portal as well. Won my first ever prize on there (which was a years supply of smoothies). But I never got used to the system there, found the whole forum based aspect of MSE much easier to use, even though we only had the Thanks thing back then.

Ignoring all the nasty comments, but I can understand some sort of a grieving process. I'm trying to imagine how I would feel if this forum suddenly closed. I have to be honest, I would miss it loads.

Having said that, whatever the reasons behind this are, it can't have been an easy choice to make. Sending good wishes to Jason and hope things move on as well as they can for you. X

  • as someone who joined loquax right from the start and won some good items in the past i must admit that i have found that both the forums and the site has changed and not for the better over the last few years. i have found myself using this and prizefinder more and more. the forums tended to have got very cliquey and a lot of folk did the new rule of saying hello so they were allowed to do the comps then never seeing them again. i got the feeling jason wasnt putting his heart in the site anymore but i must admit though he did say he wanted more support for the forums a while back this was a bolt out of the blue. i had not picked anything up re the comps if anything went i expected the forums so i think this was not fair on us. i agree that yes with social networking and blogs the comps were getting more and more but that is simple enough, dont include them or get help with those! at the end of the day jason has made a good living out of this so to do this is bad. i am sure that someone could have taken over loquax if asked or maybe loads of folk would have helped out. as it is it looks like jason wants it run via the forums which i dont think will work im not happy about this anyway
love comping love winning more :rotfl:
  • Hi Compers

I registered with MSE some years ago along with Loquax when I first got into comping. I stuck with Loquax, because I found it easier and just wanted to use one site. Simple as that, nothing against MSE at all. I can't understand inter-site !!!!!iness (on both sides!) Crikey it's not a competition (pardon the pun).

Anyway, I've logged back in here today because I was interested in the comments that have been referred to on Facebook, where I have good comping friends from both MSE and Loquax. It's sad to see some negative remarks, sadly that seems to be true of both sites and is (hopefully) a minority. I think most of us just want to enjoy our comping.

Anyways, good luck to you all in your comping. I'm sticking with Loquax, but best wishes to all wherever you end up :)
  • Im very saddened to read this thread. I tried loquax but never got my head around it and i use MSE but I still think its a shame it is closing its competitions down. However there will have been (like any site) a lot of people working hard in the background to keep that site running smoothly and this is the thanks they get? Im sure if people realised how hard some people work behind the scenes for the benefit of others they wouldnt be so negative.

It is a sad time, as some of you will have noticed there are a lot of sites popping up all over the place asking people to subscribe (pay) to join, for a resource that can be and should be free for everyone. I hope that the sensible amongst us will continue to support MSE and ALL the other free comping sites with a positive attitude - as they are not obliged to continue to provide us with a free service. If life gets hard for all the hard working volunteers or site owners then eventually we will just be left with the sites you need to pay for.
Logic will get you from A to B but imagination can take you anywhere!
Being honest may not get get you a lot of friends - but it will get you the right ones.

    Dear me.

I'll be sad to see Loquax go, as I first signed up to the site almost a decade ago...

All compers will eventually find their way to other sources of listings, and I honestly cannot understand the outrage of some people that a free service has decided to discontinue. You weren't paying for it, it wasn't some sort of entitlement, and they've announced it openly and considerately.

If all the die hard fans took to the forums and began listing comps - like happens on MSE - they could match the efforts of the Loquax team with very little effort... maybe they'll realise this when they stop bickering :)

  • I've been on Loquax for a couple of years and found the listings really clearly laid out and easy to use. I feel like a homing pigeon without a home, I hope I can settle in here.
