What a stupid bloody answer, this person is obviously genuine and through an unfortunate set of circumstances her and her husband have fallen upon hard times. I know if I lost my current income then I to would be in the brown stuff.
OP give a breakdown of what you actually have to pay out and im sure the more knowledgeable people on here will know if your entitled to something else benefits wise.

I only got through the first sentence. Please do not be so ignorant

People like you annoy me so damn much, there is absolutely no need for being nasty or name calling. This sort of thing is not welcome on here and you wont last long before you are banned. Now either delete that part of your post or apologise. Otherwise I will be reporting your post for abuse.
We are asked to be nice to newbies, but it has to be reciprocated from the newbies. It costs nothing to be civil..

I cant believe that 4 people thanked you for it, unbelievable.!!!
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

One advantage of having your own property compared to renting is that you can have a lodger (or two) to bring in some income when things get tough.

I think you need to read the post - they were speaking to an obvious troll not op - they were defending op and telling the troll to stop being stupid .

thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. We have no savings(used these when hubby had heart surgery a few years back with no help then either) or other property. Ironic that you get help when renting but not otherwise (not knocking anyone who is renting). not entitled to wtc as they ask for previous years income which was way over the threshold. Am trying to get an appointment with benefits advisor so hopefully something positive will come from that. will ring mortgage company too. Once again thankyou and a Happy New Year to you allxxx

Tax credits are initially based on previous year income, but you can have them revised to be based on current year income (subject to a 2,500 disregard).

However, you need to be working the right number of hours. In your case, if you have no children, that is likely to be 30.

What did you want to happen? What were your expectations ? Did you want the same income as before to keep coming in somehow ? I dont understand what the question is.

This was how I read it - Gentile's post was of no help at all and justlooking's reply was useful to the OP. The adjectives could be toned down but I understand the feeling.

hubby had accident in work on Xmas eve and is now on ssp for at least the next 3 months which i believe to be around £85. I lost my job in November and have just found a part time job of 12 hours for £72 a week so a weekly income of £157 how on earth do people manage on this??? (previous income £550 between the two of us) apparently not entitled to any help with council tax or mortgage either. Any advice would be really appreciated as at this moment we can't see a way out. I am looking for extra work but there is nothing at the moment i check with job center everyday, go online, even cold calling.

How much is your outstanding mortgage? Your entitlement to IB JSA will depend on this. At present, you would only receive a nil entitlement as you do not yet qualify for help with housing costs. Once you do qualify, the JCP will recalculate your entitlement to include your mortgage, but we need to know the amount to determine if you will qualify. Note that they only take into account the original mortgage plus any borrowing for home improvements, borrowing to consolidate debt etc will not be covered.

Please report if you feel the need to, I stand by what I said. The post I responded to was ignorant and it was a bloody stupid answer.
As for telling me to delete my post or apologise, you may have over thirty thousand posts but im pretty sure you do not own the forum so please feel free to report me but get off your high horse and stop telling people what to do.

To be honest I fail to see how Mckneff could have read my post wrong as I quoted the post I was replying to and even highlighted the exact part in bold, If I do get banned it will be a shame but so be it :)

I normally agree with pretty much all you post but I just don't see where your coming from here. Justlooking was simply complaining about a another post, there was no name calling and "What a bloody stupid answer" is not abusive and is hardly a reason to have the post removed or the poster banned.
    It's someone else's fault.
