Right, I've finally decided on a present for my friend later this month

    http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/harlequin-hoodie

Although she won't like the rainbow, so I'm doing grey, orange and white stripes. Bought the wool, I'll see her on 22nd, so it's game on!

Loving the ideas and inspiration :-)

Valentine's day- I am going to use some fabric transfer paper I have got to make a T-shirt for my husband. I am going to try to create a logo for the front using our kids' initials and a silly family saying we have for the back. A card - I am not sure. Last year I got an old road atlas my mum was going to throw out and cut out heart shapes around all the places that are important to OH - he loves walking. It is still on display. A bit stumped - off to Pinterest!
I am trying to get my brother to take photos of his kids holding a heart cut out (they live in the US), then put them alongside similar photos of my kids for mum.

I was cleaning out my art closet this weekend and found some left over faux flowers. I thought of a project for this thread if anyone is interested. you take a pen (biro) and a faux flower (still with at least 2 inches of it's stem attached). with the bloom just above the pen, wrap the stem against the biro with floral tape. continue wrapping until you get to the bottom of the pen. the tape will stick to itself so just cut it off and you're done with that "flower pen". we used to make these in bunches and place them in an old flower pot/ vase/ mug etc. and give them to teachers, doctors, etc.
i'm not sure if you can picture what i'm talking about but i have no way of posting pictures. anyway, i can make one of these bouquets for less than $5. just an idea.
  • bumping this thread as I've been missing hearing what you're all doing
I'm attempting to make as many presents as possible, I'm doing well so far, really struggling with my 7to nephew may have to just buy him something.
For mothers day I made gifts which went down well
Planning my Easter gifts now, I've crocheted some egg cosies (still got more too do) and I'm making some cards to send to relatives

  • how about making the 7yo a sock monster or a grass head (a head stuffed with sawdust and topped with grass seeds which has to be watered to grow hair)

I made vanilla sugar today, whizzed up two vanilla pods with a bag of sugar in the food processor. I think I will do it for Christmas presents, maybe create a card with some suggested uses on it. I have been meaning to make vanilla essence to give away for a while, but you have to begin it six months ahead I think.

  • Lbnblbnb - I've made vanilla essence for Xmas, think you need to leave it at least 2 months to mature, but obviously the longer you can leave it the better it is.
I've also made lavender sugar (just whizz up some dried, clean lavender flowers with sugar) and found some uses for it online which I put on a tag and tied on the jars. Bit different from cinnamon/vanilla sugar ;)
