There's a tutorial here for making wheat bags etc and it suggests that you should only use cotton for the interior bag to go in microwave. Lots of ideas for contents
    http://tipnut.com/make-your-own-microwave-heating-pad/
You could crotchet your owl as an outer wrapper with velcro at base , then the removeable inner and a label saying "Important only heat the inner bag in your microwave for x minutes"
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

thats brilliant thank you. i was planning on puttng a note with them saying not to microwave the wool outer. looking at that i think i might make a teddy or something for the kids (not little kids) and have an opening at the bum for the heat bag. :D oooo all these idea's. :T

First present finished and given, was really worried she wouldn;t like it but it was well received so that made me :D

Next on the list is a papercut for my friend's 1st wedding anniversary. Need to go through my pinterest too and decide on things to make out of that - quite intrigued by the heat bags idea too, just need to find someone for it to be for!!
