Not a thrify day - Miss Hoodie and me took mum and dad out for lunch, just the 4 of us, after all fuss yesterday, still think she expected people to jump out of the corner.
It was lovely, they had Sunday Roast - the size of Yorkshire pud was about 6in across, 4in high, and soft but crispy, - then when the veg came out - was in a big fruit bowl - all pipeing hot. I had gammon and it was melt in the mouth.
Puddings - we did go mse - shared 2 puds between the adults, plum pudding with brandy sauce, sticky toffee pud, toffee sauce, + vanilla icecream, - you could tell it was posh icecream - had bits of vanilla in it.
Wasn't too bad £75 for 4 mains, 3 puds, 5 drinks. But it was all fresh food.
Its the pub we use when we meet our friends from manchester (summer + winter). Anyone near Chester area, 10 miles away - pm and i'll pass pub details across.
lazy ngt - just waiting for washing to finish, sods law clothes not been washed b4 so had to do 3 seperate loads.
Back to reality tomorrow....
Hope your not all snowed in!! we had a slight covering earlier.

I would suggest you make sure you have plenty of spare batteries for your cameras, we took 2 cameras and had 3 phones with us and we took so many photos they all ran out.
Lol will do!!!I thought I was done shopping, but I am going to have to buy for a whole new person  Can't even do much advance shopping because I don't know anything about them except they're making me quite sick and very dizzy.
OMG, congratulations!!!!!!!!! Good job you're all sorted as early as you are!! When's the due date?!

Ok, here's me trying to post a picture of the cake. I rushed it (hence things being a bit wobbly and soft looking!), and used pack mix cake for the castle bit. SHould have made my own cake for ALL of it (not just the grassy area which was the only bit I allowed people to eat as the packet cake is vile) as it would have been more stable too. Packet mix was a bit soft and spongy! But I needed to save some pennies!

Hi to everyone else. I am not that organised this year yet. Managed to get all my personal Christmas cards in the sales but missed out on the wrapping paper and boxed cards, not that I need many of them. Wanted to get the paper though. Grandson's birthday in a couple of days and hadnt managed to get a present so stuck a tenner in with his card for this year. Not really my kind of thing but couldnt think what else to do this year. I have started saving £2 coins as its YD's 18th in July, saving up towards a party if she is having one. If not she can have it as a present. I have two weddings to go to, one end of May and one week after beginning of June. First one is my Son's and second my niece. I am in the process of sorting out my outfit. Hoping to make it myself, I have ordered a pattern for a dress and another one for a hat. Won some vintage cream fabric on Ebay at the weekend so hoping that is in good enough condition to use to make both and may be a jacket too to go with it. Only paid £5.99 including postage for the fabric. Patterns were dearer lol. Not going to make it until nearer the time as I am still dieting and want to see what size I will be by then. I have lost 3 and half stones now so going well.0 -
Hi Clare, that cake looks lovely, very artistic. Well done xx0

Wow, that cakes looks great.
I bet it took ages to make.
Well, it's been a fairly frugal day as the snow meant I couldn't get my main shopping done. That's good, in a way, except I'll have to go tomorrow now. Oh well. Not quite snowed in but we work at the bottom of a big hill so did get a little panicky when getting close to home time and it hadn't stopped snowing!
On the preparation front, I've reorganised my present cupboard and made more room. In fact, there are some wrapped already (I'm keeping a spreadsheet of what's what though) to save time next year! Is that a bit intense? I keep having a look at what's left in the sales but can't really find anything else that I want - that's usually the signal for me to step away from the reductions as I'll buy it for the sake of having it just in case.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.
