Thanks Mrs Moneypenny :j0 -
Hi Lina, glad you have joined us. I do Swag too, found it last year I think and had quite a few vouchers last year. I was mainly saving Amazon vouchers and bought loads of presents with them. This year I have been having M&S vouchers as I had one for Xmas and wanted to put them together to buy some shoes and a bag for the wedding I am going to in May (my Son's). I have made £20 worth so far this month by going on it everyday and really working hard. Has been worth it though.0

Hi Rufusdog. I'm a bit addicted to Swagbucks at the moment so I'm making a lot, I hope to keep the momentum up, although I have exams in June so I may not be able too. I'll try to earn more now while it's early on in the year so I can slack off a bit around revision time. It's great though isn't it?
My brother got married last year and I was a bridesmaid, so I know how expensive weddings can potentially be. They're going to be having a baby in August as well, so I'm going to be an Auntie for the first time. Excited!
And I'm going to be my best friends bridesmaid in 18 months time, I'm already bracing myself for the expense. We live in times where a full-blown holiday abroad is a normal thing to do as a hen do.
Why can't people stop having all these special occassions, it's bankrupting me :rotfl:0 -
I just had the details for my daughter in law to be's hen night, they are only going up to London for the day but I can't afford to go, it would be my daughter as well to pay for if we both went and it would be too much what with everything else. I am making my outfit myself, got a pattern and won some fabric on Ebay, so far it cost me about £23, have to get some lining and a zip and then some other bits to make a hat to go with it but have enough fabric to do it, just need feathers etc. Reckon it will cost me about £50 or less for the whole thing, dress and hat and may be even have enough fabric over for a small jacket too. I have another wedding the week after that, only going to the reception for that one so wont have to be so dressed up as when I am mother of the groom though.0

This is the problem I had. My sister-in-law wanted to go on holiday abroad, plus a hen do meal and night out in Manchester. Ended up offending people unintentionally. I did the one in Manchester but there was no way I could afford both, especially as me and my boyfriend have been sacrificing holidays for the last couple of years to save money.
I have a horrible feeling the same thing is going to happen for my friends hen do
I hope your daughter-in-law is understanding about it!0 -
Hi everyone
Nice to Lina nice to see you here.
I am amazed what people do these days for weddings nowadays. Mum and I were talking about this last week as my wedding long ago was then called very posh, yet it was different to the ones you see on wedding shows on tv nowadays. I wondered if nowadays a lot of things are influenced by the trends in America?
One of my relatives is having a high society wedding very soon, I'm not going as I have a problem with travel but my son will go instead, it will be interesting to hear what that is like as there is a lot going on from what I read on the invitation. But as it's my son, I doubt he'll report back about the kinds of details that us ladies would be interested in. The last high society one I attended, another relatives, was the most informal I'd ever attended then food at their big house lots of things went wrong yet it was really enjoyable.
Clare how sweet your daughter is going to be a bridesmaid, hope you find the best way to get the shrug.
I was out socialising last few days and completely forget to make the collage envelopes I needed to make this week and DS is home tomorrow (from the care home) so I am not sure how I will fit in making them as he likes us to be out all the time. :mad:0 -

thats so weird, as I had the pattern from your 1st link, I did 4 of the 1st size for 2 friends daughters for xmas prezzies, - for me it came out really small and didn't sit right, it didn't look a patch on the picture, was going to do a 9/10 for Miss Hoodie and when I put the stitches on the needle, I have needed to double them. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Did anyone brave the boots 75% sale, we went to ours got there about 10am it was a madhouse, people were literally just putting their arm across a shelf and putting all of the stuff in the baskets.
Apparently they had to open at 820 as they had that many people queueing, I was disappointed with the sale, seemed less in quantity than previous yrs, (even going same time), and there was a lot of the FCUK stuff left, the packs with the 3 mini items with the 2013 diary and then the mini FCUK boxes, gents there was a wack of toilettry sets left, so managed to get some bargains. I'm really glad that I got the gok wan and santuary sets when they were 75% off, as they made a big dent as main presents,
We spent £140 (only cost me £20, used points and vouchers), that included £5 on crackers, - proper price £460 - 6 carrier bags full.
Managed to get most of it allocated into gifts, the FCUk sets with the diaries, I've taken the diaries out and added the bits in with the small FCUK box, (got to remember to take the label off and tie with gift ribbon, the diary not v good.
