Hi all
mum2one, thanks for letting us see the pics, the cake looked wonderful and Lapland looked very cold, you all look really nice as a family. That was a coincidence about the knitting pattern.
I felt so smug as I spent all evening sorting out loose change, decluttering stuff then made all the collage envelopes for the birthday I needed and also made a couple for Easter and Summer this year. I felt so glad it was over for another year UNTIL I suddenly realised that I had overlooked the reason I had to make them today was because I forgot last year. So, that means I still have to make them for this Xmas and birthday in January next year lol.0 -
Lovely photos Mum2one, your Mum and Dad look well happy. Love the Lapland photos too. Well done on your bargains at Boots. I never bother with it myself, I am not really a big Boots shopper, our one is so tiny and the things they do sell are dear up to Savers and Wilkinson. They dont do any of their cheaper ranges like the natural make-up. Not only that but I don't really buy a lot of women presents which seem to mostly what they have, I really only get stuff for the grandchildren. My two daughters prefer things like clothes to smellies.
Got my pattern and fabric for my outfit yesterday, the pattern looks a bit daunting, quite a few things in there I haven't tackled before but it won't stop me having a go. The fabric is beautiful, where the woman said it was a bit creased is just where it has been folded up and stored, its nothing that won't iron out. I can put it all away now until April and concentrate on getting the accessories to go with it and losing some more weight.
Wanted to get a bit of sewing done to stock up my craft fair stuff but its so cold at the moment and we have no heating upstairs at all so will have to wait until the temperature goes up a bit.0 -
Hi Lina nice to see you here.
I am amazed what people do these days for weddings nowadays. Mum and I were talking about this last week as my wedding long ago was then called very posh, yet it was different to the ones you see on wedding shows on tv nowadays. I wondered if nowadays a lot of things are influenced by the trends in America?
Hi Anglea, thank you!
And no doubt about that. As soon as anyone I know gets engaged they succumb to what I call :happylovesparkly princess syndrome:happylove
Not that I'm bitter or anything :rotfl:
My free Models Own nail polish arrived yesterday, they're a fiver in Boots so I'm chuffed about that. Straight into the Christmas present box.
I have lots of events next month. Valentines Day, both my boyfriends parent's birthdays, my sister's and her boyfriend's birthdays. And pancake day which is not to be forgotten.
I have all cards sorted (bought them cheaply) apart from the Valentines Day one which I might make. More because it's thoughtful and I think it'll be appreciated, than because it's cheaper. I'll post a picture up if it goes well!0 -
Hi Lina! Welcome!! You're putting me to shame with how much you've done already!! Congratulations on becoming an Auntie in August. And thank you for telling me about Swagbucks - had not heard of that one!!
I was very conscious of not having an expensive hen do. We had a 'slumber party' at my friend's house - everyone slept over, wore PJs and we ate party food, very alcofrolic punch, games, truth or dare type games, music... all good fun and very cheap! Everyone brought a bit of food or alcohol too.
Angela - I'll show you all a pic of her after the big day so you can see her in her dress - it's gorgeous and she looks SO cute in it. lol
mum2one - Tell Miss Hoodie that the cake she decorated looked AMAZING!Love the picture of the 4 of you. Some pics in there from Lapland I'm guessing??
Thanks for the notes on that knit pattern. Will pass the info over to my mum.
Wow you did well at Boots. Sounds like my idea of hell! lol
How's everyone doing with the snow? We've had some overnight but the roads are still fine (even though I drive over the brecon beacons to work and back!!) but it's looking HOPEFUL for a snow day tomorrow! Yeay - we had practically nothing last year and DD is old enough to really enjoy it this year! SHe can use her sledge for the first time too!!!
I know not everyone enjoys the snow though, so take care everyone - if it's bad or icy don't go out unless you NEED to. Don't want to hear of any injuries. Stay warm! Enjoy the TV and do some crafting or MSE related internet surfing!! lol

Hi everyone,
Lina, that's a good expression 'sparkly princess syndrome' I do like to see what people do for weddings and other occasions ( first holy communions can be very OTT these days) but have to wonder where the time is found for those that make most of the extra bits and pieces themselves.
You do seem very organised with your plans so far.
Clare, looking forward to the photos of the wedding..
Hi Rufus, I bet you will master that pattern as you do so much sewing already.
In the next few days I must wrap a present and get a card and put the plastic bags (that seal) inside the collage envelopes ready for the cash to go in for Sunday. I made about 12 last night.
I also need to get a wedding card. All this talk of weddings and I have a fear I'll forget as it needs sending next week lol.
I am so glad I'm back on this thread as already I am feeling more focused.0 -
I Will need to get a couple of cards too Anglea, I bet I will end up forgetting all about them otherwise. I am pretty up on birthday cards although I must write my SIL's card out as I will see her on Monday so I will be able to give it to her to save a stamp.
Its sunny here this afternoon (Kent) not as cold as it has been either but we have been forecast a bit of snow tomorrow, just a light shower so they say. Hoping we dont get much as I wanted OH to take me to M&S but he wont go out if its snowing.
Sunday I am going to my Dad's as he as hospital on Monday so going to stay overnight. Its my Mum's birthday Sunday anyway so we go to the crem to take some flowers and pick Dad up on the way so OH will drop both of us back to his house and I will come home with SIL on Monday after the appointment.0 -
just checked my lists
all january birthdays are dealt with now
DS2 has a school friends birthday party to go to at the end of the month but i already have card and pressie sorted.
feb has 4 birthdays and valentines in it
3 are just cards the other is my Dad so need to think what to get him.
all cards are sorted
will make DH a valentines card and think ill cook at home, hes already said i can have a cross stitch i did framed as a pressie from him (well he offered to pay just after christmas but i said he was to wait and get it done for valentines
i have one of those books with folders for each month, theres a dated list on the front of each folder to write names of birthday/anni people next to the date and i put cards for them in the folder.
at the beginning of the year i fill it with cards suitable for people that i have in my stash, but if i havent got a suitable card to hand i write persons name on a list and the type of card i need then i put that at the front of the book. as i get/make the right cards i cross their name off so i dont duplicate.
local newsagent is changing hand at the weekend and this week all cards are reduced to 50p each so ive stocked up on quite a few.SPC~12 ot 124

hi again
Mrs-M, I have one of those card folders too for Xmas and birthdays but haven't written in the addresses but probably should as my address book is full of change of address papers that keep falling out.
It's also a good idea you have of writing what cards are needed at the front.0 -
another tip id like to share is to write the names in in pencil, then if people move or come off your lists you can update with a rubber instead of the book being ruined with endless tipex splodges.
im hoping that i can write the actual cards out at the beginning of each month so i can double check ive sorted everyone, if i do that i write the date of the occassion in the corner where the stamp goes, so i know when it will need to go by and exidence can be covered over with stamp when im ready to post.SPC~12 ot 124

Hi all
Thanks Mrs M for the tip. What I do find with some types of paper is that it is hard to write on in pencil, hopefully the card folder will be ok.
So much for my idea of buying cards this weekend, blizzard conditions here. I'm not suire I have supplies to make a wedding card, have to hope I can get out on Monday.
Hope you are all ok with the weather.0
