I just can't find a weekly planner that suits me online ... I found one that "nearly" does and have been using that the past couple of weeks - and really like the way she's done it with different colours for different weeks ... may still have to do some more [STRIKE]playing [/STRIKE]refining!
I do like it - but it's going to use a fair bit of ink for the full year!
could you laminate a week's worth or put them into a glass/plastic-fronted photo frame & then use wipe on/off marker? That's what I've done for my freezer inventory.0 -

I eventually got the diary and use it a lot, along side a family calander outside the bedrooms and a line a day calendar beside the front door, that one is more just reference/school stuff, upstairs one has the 3 of us in detail. The diary is so I am organised and can schedule our lives instead if saying I'll get back to u and forget.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

well my freezer inventory didn't last longI've no idea of half of the stuff in it & there must be loads of things that I've not marked off after taking them out of it.
it's now almost time to get next year's diary/household maintenance book & I seem to be playing catch-up because I keep 'losing' it & so am writing bits n pieces on paper & then scribbling them into diary when found.:o
I blame the cross over between an academic diary & general household one0 -

I loved my Home Management Journal at the start of last year and then life got in the way and I stopped using it. Now however I Am due a new baby in January and I wan this year to be incredibly organised so I am updating my folder for 2014
I thought we could post any new links on hereTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
My grandma used to keep what she called "home diaries". In them she wrote down what she cooked for dinner etc.
Most interesting is the lists she kept of what she feed guests who came over, and the lists of Christmas and birthday presents she bought, and who for!
One of my favourite entries (we read them after she died) concerns me as a baby. It reads something like,
"Martin and Claire (my parents) came over with the girls (my sister and I). Sally (me!) was sick in the night a number of times. Ran out of vests! Had to run the washing machine in the morning."
I was about 1 year old. These little snippets of her thoughts were lovely to have when she passed away.Because it's fun to have money!

My mum kept lists of things she bought for weekly food shopping and Christmas presents.
It was fascinating reading them, especially the Christmas present lists. They started in the mid 1950's, going up to the mid 1970's.
I came along in 1960, and it was a great reminder of Christmas's past.
These lists are still in my loft, but in the 'missing box'. I've been de-cluttering, and there's a box from my parents place that I still haven't uncovered. Maybe I'll find it in 2014.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi:)
Well I'm still partly doing this - I got a tablet middle of this year so a lot of stuff that was in my binders (to do list etc) are now on there which i find easier :T
I do still use my recipe ones a lot though
Having a think about what to do for 2014 - having the tablet is great for somethings BUT I can't take it everywhere so I do need something else as well .... to much to carry the binder I eventually used as well though (it was A5 but quite thick & a bit heavy if I'm honest) so ..... still a WIP!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Oooh! I don't know how I missed this thread last year. I am *such* a stationery addict!
For this year's household diary I am trying out something I saw on YT - a combined diary/notebook. I bought an A5 diary and notebook cheaply. Both have the same size binding - not a spiral, but the kind where the wire binding meets at the back. You can then gently separate the wires, and take the diary and journal apart. I now have 2 separate six month diaries interspersed with notes for financial records and other lists, plus a few pockets for receipts and other papers that I made with scrapbook paper (or any thickish paper would do). I'll see how that goes this year.
Here's the link to YT vid I used for inspiration: http://youtu.be/oR3qxDVcC1w. She talks through the diaries and notebooks that are suitable about 4 minutes in. How to pull it apart and reassemble is just before 7 minutes. Very MSE! Enjoy.0 -
Well chums I looked back to a year ago and how much things have risen in price !!! very frightening and sobering as pensions and wages certainly haven't risen anywhere near that amount. My year hasn't been too bad though, as I have been even more vigilant about spending. I managed to trim my food budget back to £60.00 per month by using more pulses in my cooking and literally only buying essential items.I no longer eat bread or butter (lost two stone since August):):) which is good.Every scrap of stuff I buy now for eating does just that, gets eaten
.I still seem to have a bulging freezer though, but that's down to freezing more left overs or turning them into other meals.I have very little food to buy in January ,milk, eggs and fresh veg at the most as I have enough meals in the freezer and store cupboards to more than keep me going.I have baked a lot more than I used to, which is good as I make a lot more HM stuff than I used to.My best Christmas present from one of my DDs was a granite pestle and mortar which I am looking forward to using. On Wednesday I shall have my £60.00 in my food purse for the month of January and that will more than do me.At the moment in my food purse I have left over £8.50 from December which will go into my Holiday funds account. I still keep a good record of what's available in what shops and how much it costs before I go out to buy anything. My favourite accompaniment for food is sweet chilli sauce and the Blue Dragon one is around £1.80 a bottle and its only a small bottle. My DD spotted a huge bottle in Family Bargains for 99p so I now have around two months supply for half the price. I have a huge stash of dried pulses that I am going to use even more of and try some different veggie dishes,I still eat meat but nowhere near as much as I used to,lots more veg in my diet is far healtier I think and its fairly filling as well
:)This afternoon I shall start making the January menu out using as much as possible the food I already have indoors. Its definitely going to be and even more careful spending year I think
Cheers everyone good luck with your notebooks in the coming year I still use mine daily
