Hi Sf -
No idea how to quote in a reply, but (Lois too) Henry's are fantastic, and reliable and very long lasting, my issue with them is that there are no wheels in the bit of the Henry that you have to push along the ground (can't think of the word for it) so it tends to be harder work on anything other than commercial, hardwearing, council type carpet styles, but I think it's the lack of wheels that allows it to get so close to the ground.
SF - Fantastic saving & OP this month, WOW, I'm very impressed, much congratulations. I like your way of thinking about overpaying by at least the interest added, I shall add that to my mental targets. :T
Think about your Mr Ms spend as only 7% of what you have saved…..Mortgage outstanding: [STRIKE]£47,750 (August 2014)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE][/STRIKE]£46,950 (Nov 14)[STRIKE][/STRIKE] £44,900 (June 2015)
Student loan: Paid off June 2015 - 10 years & 2months.0 -
Rather fantastic if you ask me, not that I'm an authority on how to be good with money.
Where are you going in America? We're going to Canada and America - Niagra Falls, Ottowa, Montreal, Toronto, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, New York - very excited

Think about your Mr Ms spend as only 7% of what you have saved…..and thanks! By OPing just the interest alone makes quite a big impact, and doesn't make me feel like we're not doing anything
I'm liking the % thing too...

Sounds like you're going on the trip of a lifetime!
As for living in the moment, something I really like to do with my son is go for a walk in the countryside, spotting various wildlife / birds / things that live near the riverside etc. then have a picnic in the back of the LR. This probably is your idea of a nightmare
but it was one of the first things I did in an attempt to stop spending money and I now really look forward to the weather being dry enough to do it.
2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Going for a walk and a picnic is something me and DH do often, it's lovely when the weather is warmer
obviously, it does depend on what's in the picnic....

I like that idea of the interest as a starting point ... Adds to spreadsheet - just because !!!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
- MORTGAGE FREE: September 2015
- MSE 1p Savings Challenge 2024 #50: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec = £223.84/£671.61

That holiday sounds fastastic, I hope you are bringing *a lot* of spending money
My brother and his wife tried similar, but I think they ended up feeling a bit curtailed and grumpy at points, as they didn't allow for the costs (having to change hotel plans mid trip etc.)
Done right, few places are more fun than North America.0 -

It's the start of the Easter holidays :j :j
I've had a lovely lie in this morning and then pottered around. I ate a late breakfast than sat and watched tv for a bit with a cuppa. Bliss!
I've been to Mr S today for the shopping today and spent £37 which is much bettergot lots of yummy things planned for the week, including some Chinese chicken thighs with egg fried rice, all HM
Tonight we're going to listen to a choir in a local church; we went last year and they were great. We're going to go out for tea first at a restaurant near there which serves some wonderful fresh food; I'm fancying one of their salads I think
I've been for a short bike ride this afternoon; that's only the second time I've been on itbut it was lovely and it's made me feel very :A which is daft, I know!
Nothing much else to reportBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
